My Wife has wanted to stay here for years, so I finally surprised her & boy was it a surprise! For us both! Absolutely INCREDIBLE & worth every single cent. Right from the car park, we were treated as “Special guests”! Ushered into the beautiful home turned Zoo lodge, we were treated to a wonderful afternoon tea, whilst our luggage was transferred to our Giraffe Tree house! We then had a personal tour of the amazing Zoo & Imogen our guide was very knowledgeable & explained everything about the various animals in such a loving & caring way, we couldn’t help but fall in love with them all. The highlight of the tour was her patience with the huge 1.8 ton Rhinoceros. He finally came over to us & we were able to PAT him!! Amazing!!! After the tour, we headed to our lodges…. Then, my Wife opened the door to our magical African themed grand bedroom! She actually cried with joy to see just outside the main balcony our 2 guests……Skye & Khamisi! 2 stunning Giraffes awaiting us to hand feed them carrots! We couldn’t believe how close we were to them! They simply strolled past our windows the rest of the afternoon chomping away on their food bags & branches. Incredible. Later we headed to the dining room, but prior to dinner, the keepers tempted the very beautiful white lion Mishka with a raw bone to sit in the window & allow photo ops for us all! Dinner in the main dining room was a 3 course meal & we all agreed the food was absolutely delicious & very generous! Sleep was easy on the lovely bed & the shower has to be seen to be believed! Brekky was another surprise with very generous portions. We had the day to explore the Zoo at our leisure! Totally recommend this whole experience! Loved it & the staff are ALL exceptional!

An amazing family experience. We took our children and granchildren. 10 of us stayed 2 nights in different rooms. An amazing family experience. We took our children and granchildren. 10 of us stayed 2 nights in different rooms. On the 1st night our children stayed in the giraffe adjoining rooms and we all fed the giraffes carrots. We stayed in the sun bears room and had a bear sleeping in the sun outside our window. The 2nd night the kids had meerkats outside their rooms and we patted a cheetah. We did tours where we fed tigers, bears, alpaccas and deer. The food there was amazing with 3 course dinners and it was fine dining which we didmt expect. All the staff were amazing and even took all the kids away each night during our dinner to see animals so we could enjoy our dinner and they didnt get bored. We thought it was an amazing family experience where we made some great memories

The perfect place to celebrate a special anniversary or birthday! Special thanks to my wonderful husband who outdid himself by surprising me with a long weekend at the gorgeous Jamala Wildlife Lodge . Everything was totally brilliant and we both enjoyed every second. From the customer service to the food to the accommodation to the wildlife experiences - everything was beyond expectations. The animals are happy and healthy - you can see how the keepers love them while still respecting them as unpredictable wild animals. Many of the animals are rescued from horrendous situations such as circuses, zoos going into liquidation, private collectors who bought baby animals but don't want them as adults etc. It takes time, patience and love for the keepers to build trust, especially with those who have had unpleasant experiences with humans (to put it mildly) but that trust is now very evident with the animals often choosing to spend time with their keepers and even other lucky people 😊 The lodge is gorgeous, the food was delicious, staff are so genuinely happy and friendly and looked after us so well. Each room is named for an animal - Tiger Room, Lion Room, Sun Bear Room etc - and that animal is living right beside that room, separated only by glass. Ricky knows me well - we had the Lemur Room one night and the Giraffe Treehouse the next. I was in heaven surrounded by all these beautiful creatures. Everything was organised for us - we did a Cheetah Walk and some guided Animal Encounter walks. We patted a cheetah, fed a tiger, emu and sun bears, and generally were let a lot closer to the animals than day visitors to the Zoo. We were also allowed to wander the Zoo outside of opening hours as long as it wasn't dark. We took advantage of this one morning and were rewarded by seeing 2 leopard up close - one of them sat on the clear roof right above us and did some personal grooming 😁 We saw otters cuddling, monkeys playing, meerkats on guard duty, ostriches being silly and many other natural behaviours of so many different creatures. So many magical memories! We will be back.
