Cambridge Hotel Sydney

“September, 2019”

This place is within walking distance of Hyde Park, a very pretty spot, and there was a lot to see in the Veteran's Museum in the park. Further on there were older buildings and St Mary's Cathedral, and for walkers, the Botanical garden.

We stayed here for a few nights pre-crusie and found this to be a great spot for getting out and about in Sydney. The room was comfortable, staff really friendly and helpful. Great shops and cafes nearby, not too far to get on any of the transport links and many interesting areas nearby- the Rock… more

We stayed here for a few nights pre-crusie and found this to be a great spot for getting out and about in Sydney. The room was comfortable, staff really friendly and helpful. Great shops and cafes nearby, not too far to get on any of the transport links and many interesting areas nearby- the Rocks, Chinese Quarter, Darling Harbour (where we watched the free firework display on Saturday evening). Would recommend.

“Good location”

We only stayed for a couple of nights B&B but this was a nice clean hotel close to the centre and Darling harbour. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. We only stayed for a couple of nights B&B but this was a nice clean hotel close to the centre and Darling harbour. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. A nice little personal touch they give you a bar of chocolate with your name on. You can also book a airport shuttle from here which is much cheaper than a taxi. There is a good Irish pub across road which does great food.

“Not even for free. Somebody missed the mark big time.”

Firstly, this hotel isn't in Riley St, it's lower Campbell Street and it is called ADGE not Cambridge. Firstly, this hotel isn't in Riley St, it's lower Campbell Street and it is called ADGE not Cambridge. On entering we lined up to find it was a coffee shop and told to go further inside for reception. Reception was a small desk in a room the size of a football field. There was no concierge just a lady behind the desk and a guy seated who never acknowledged our presence.. The decor of the hotel section was a sickly red and green Anaconda snake wall paper. On entering the rooms we found they were very clean and well presented. The toilet and shower took up 1/3 of the room and was see through glass. If you wanted to sit on the toilet you were visible to everyone. There was no toilet light in the toilet, you had to find it on the outside which was hard at night. At night you could sit on the toilet in a brightly lit cubicle so everyone can watch and listen. When flushing the toilet at night it sounded like a boeing 747 warming up. We could not watch tv as the small cheap remote would allow the sound to go up, but if you tried to lower the sound it would change channels. The volume got so loud we had to stop attempting to watch anything. The bed was comfortable but the sheets sounded like cellophane, they were very noisy. The pillows were too high and we both slept flat. The rooms were soundproof but the windows weren't. On the 9th floor we heard traffic noises, yelling and music from Oxford Street. At night there were no doorman or security anywhere to be seen and you did not need a key to access the building, just the lift. The place is very clean and looks good but they worried too much about little red trendy fridges and pod coffee machines to make the room comfortable and functional. I expected a bit more for $210. The place has been renovated but somebody missed the mark big time.
