I regularly try and stay here when in Sydney. Staff are very friendly and it is well located. I really enjoy staying here - so much nicer than a hotel chain. Breakfast is good too

What a great hotel nice rooms close to Sydney Central a great staging post for train, bus,taxi and walking. Lots to do and see close by. Rooms are well designed and comfortable

If you are arriving into Sydney Airport a very short train ride to the Center station & then 6 min by walking. The front desk agents were above & beyond. If I can give 10 stars I would have! Well...Where to begin? The Hotel Morris is conveniently located. If you are arriving into Sydney Airport a very short train ride to the Center station & then 6 min by walking. The front desk agents were above & beyond. My room was very clean, very well decorated. It also comes espresso machine with generous coffee pots! The bathroom was spotless as well and provided all the amenties you can think of. You will get a bottle of water in your room which you can refill it downstairs either still or sparking water. The Sydney Harbour Bridge, or Opera House only 30-35 min away by walking or you can get there by metro. Lots of cafés and restaurants around the hotel. The huge supermarket is located across from the hotel at the corner in the mall downstairs. The Hotel Bar offers Happy Hour with special drinks but I didn't have time to experience it. The Haymarket Chinatown is only 2 blocks away & you can find all kind of souvenirs with reasonable prices. The Hotel Morris has a unique & beautiful ambience with tasteful decor around the Lobby area or assigned rooms. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy Sydney.

This hotel made for a mostly frustrating stay, but generally tolerable stay. The room was 100% form over function. It was quite small (as advertised), but rather than using the cramped space smartly, it had several large, empty, decorative vases, a low chandelier that got in the way of changing clothes, an awkwardly placed clothing stand, and a large decorative bed pillow that I'm sure is never cleaned (gag). The bathroom was so cramped and poorly laid out that it was impossible to sit on the toilet normally. The sink is installed so close that even a short person (like me at 5'4"/162 cm) must sit down at an awkward angle because their knees simply won't fit sitting normally (it's worse than the photo looks). The shower door didn't have any sort of gasket, so water flowed out freely, flooding the rest of the room. The bathroom door was a (thick and heavy) pocket-style door, which lacked any sort of latch or lock. Worst of all, the air conditioning failed on multiple nights of our 6-night stay. The AC was locked to a pre-set range of temperatures (annoying, but reasonable); however, around 10 pm (22), it would simply stop cooling. The fan remained on, but the air warmed by several degrees. This led to many hot, sleepless nights. We tried pre-cooling the room by setting the AC to the lowest possible setting throughout the day, but by 3 am, it would be unbearably hot again. We complained, and were told they "reset" the system, which seemed to improve things for one night, but the next night it was too hot again. I don't know if they are intentionally throttling the AC at night or if the system is just unable to keep up with nighttime usage, but either way, it was a miserable experience. Cost-wise, hotels in Sydney seem to be very expensive across the board, and this place is no exception. We paid quite a bit more for this room than for a significantly larger room in Melbourne. All that said, there were a few things we DID enjoy here. Most importantly, the room was clean, and the service was friendly! This was a fun location, surrounded by lots of great food and near many transit stops. The on-site bar made fantastic cocktails and pretty good food, the one time we tried it. Opting out of daily room servicing gets you a $10 bar credit (the delivery of those credits was inconsistent, but evened out in the end). If you want to stay in a quirky place with easy access to fantastic food, transit, and great on-site drinks, consider staying here. But be sure to upgrade to one of the larger rooms (we were in the second-smallest, I believe), and hope that the AC kinks have been worked out!
