--- Rydges Sydney Airport is hard to beat for sheer convenience, particularly if you are flying internationally. We stayed for two nights in May and chose the hotel primarily for its location—it is only a two to three minute walk to the international terminal check-in, which makes it ideal for early departures or late arrivals. We booked a Superior Queen Room with an airport view, which allowed us to watch some aircraft movements. The room itself was quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. The soundproofing is effective, and the blackout curtains do a good job, ensuring a restful stay despite the busy airport setting. That said, given the price point, the room felt fairly standard and lacked any standout features. Where the hotel fell short was at Smithy’s Bar. On the evening we dined there, it was extremely busy and appeared understaffed. We waited some time for a table, and even once tables became available, there was a delay in clearing and resetting them. When I approached the bar staff to ask if someone could attend to this, my request was ignored. Eventually, a young waiter served us and was very apologetic, explaining he was working alone and doing his best under pressure. The meals themselves were acceptable, though not particularly memorable. My wife’s mezze plate included a large amount of corn chips, which was not mentioned in the menu description and felt a little out of place. Overall, Rydges Sydney Airport delivers where it matters most—location and convenience, including easy access to public transport. However, the experience beyond that is somewhat average, especially considering the cost.

Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of International check in and that is why we use it. It is expensive. Desk staff were great. However, The lobby bar food and room service leaves a lot to be desired. Three times now room service was expensive and sub standard. First time food arrived uncovered which is unhygienic so I asked for it to be covered on next stay and it was covered with glad wrap, not a closh. Food was cold both times. Recently we ate in the bar and food was not enjoyable. 2 small glasses of wine were 30 dollars and fish basket was not pleasant. Fish was strong tasting and calamari was like rubber, chips were cold. Now staying for a week in Rydges Latimer Christchurch and food is fantastic in both bar, restaurant (outstanding) and room service. Sydney should be shamed by their New Zealand counterparts.

Rooms were great, location is awesome but service here is non existent. Waited for over two hours for in room dining only to be told they had run out of food. They tried calling us " allegedly " on the room phone but couldn't get through..... discovered the phone was on silent. Lucky we didn't… more
