We stayed in 13 hotels during our tour of Australia. Here we stayed one night in Room 218 second floor serviced by three lifts. Good sized room with large bed,safe, fridge and adequate storage space. Shower in bath in reasonable sized bathroom. Breakfast in small room on 1st floor. Was ok. A few nights later stayed here again before travelling onto Cairns. Second night we stayed in room 219. Well located by Harbour. Staff friendly. Good location.

“Enjoyable stay”

We stayed 4 nights in a one bedroom apartment #336, prior to our journey on The Ghan , Darwin to Adelaide. Well appointed with a balcony, it provided us with a good base ( though we did have a hire car, parking was available on the top level with direct access to the hotel) Breakfast was included, fruit , cereal, yoghurt and hot food, barrister coffee extra, but worth it, Staff friendly. Walking distance to many good restaurants and a gelati shop, it was in the mid 30’s each day, so a treat after dinner. Private pool with banana lounges, umbrellas along with food and beverage service. Lots of beach towels! Overall, a great stay…thanks .

“Our second stay but there won’t be a third”

On check-in we asked if the full amount we were paying was inclusive of parking for our three nights - yes confirmed - yet when we checked out we were presented with a bill for parking. Annoying.  But our major issue was the aircon. The first night the aircon was so loud even when the system was apparently completely shut off. The noise in the bedroom was berserk - hence no sleep. It sounded like a street sweeper operating all night long. The manager was polite and understanding and we were able to change rooms but even then the sound of the extraction grate rattled in the lounge room!!! At least it wasn’t in the bedroom. It’s a really shocking system! Also, over Easter they serviced the room only on the Saturday. It seems they may only service rooms every 3-4 days anyway??? But in any case, it meant no new towels and the coffee ran out…. Why pay for three nights at the same rate for each night but you only get servicing on one day and the other days you have to go and ask for things you need, which, frankly, we couldn’t be bothered doing!! It’s not a good holiday feeling …. Further diminished by the fact that the grout in the bathroom floor tiles is filthy, the rooms smell musty generally (mind you the hallway and reception smell is pleasant) and the towels leave lint over everything.  The ‘Ink and Water’ tea and amber bathroom products are nice. And the location is excellent, as is the convenience of the on site parking (despite the charging muck-up) but those factors aren’t enough for us to want to return again unfortunately.  Time to look for other ‘fish in the Darwin hotels sea’….
