I stayed recently at Macarthur Chamber while visiting Brisbane. I had a one bedroom apartment which was spacious and well appointed which gave it a modern homey feel. Macarthur Chambers is located right in the heart of the CBD at the end of the Queen Street Mall, very close to all conveniences like shopping, public transport, South Bank and the Queen street Mall is across the road. The room was quiet, clean and the kitchen was well kitted out with all cooking essentials such as microwave, stove, electric fry pan, cutlery, plates etc. Check-in was an easy process. The bed was comfortable although very firm, as were the pillows. There was plenty of hot water for the shower and all showering amenities were provided. The negatives were: - the Balcony sliding door latch/lock was broken so could not be locked or latched - there was no lighting in the kitchen so the kitchen was dark and I could not rely on the rangehood light for cooking as it did not work, this made cooking difficult - cooktop (Gas) did not work, I tried everything, it would click to fire up but nothing would light, the microwave was a saving grace, and all the writing on the knobs had worn off, so again this made using difficult - some of the light switches didn't seem to turn lights on - the hallway had a musty damp smell, but this wasn't the case in the room itself The room price was average for the area and although there were many negatives if the price was right I would stay again, but I would not rely on the kitchen for preparing food

After reading some highly critical reviews I was a little worried about the booking I had made for 2 nights here. So I was very pleasantly surprised by our experience. The building is lovely - a true reflection of some of Brisbane's early architecture. The greeting and help from the lovely girl at tge front desk set a welcoming vibe. Our apartment was spacious, very clean, and well appointed. Fabulous location.
