Great hotel for a conference delegate. This hotel provided all that was needed at a reasonable price. The Cairns Conference centre is within sight from my balcony. So I couldn't get lost. A straightforward walk down the main street to a Woolworths supermarket and a $2 shop souvenirs shop. The pier for Great Barrier Reef boats is also an easy walk, as is the Aquarium and night market. The hotel provides a microwave and kettle so an economical breakfast can be achieved. Coffee, tea and decaffeinated coffee is provided. Your bed is made daily except on public holidays. The pool is on the roof, and ticks that box. You can Chromecast to the TV. My stay for 6 nights was very comfortable.

“Great location in middle of Cairns”

Very nice place to stay within walking distance of restaurants, stores, esplanade, diving tours and boat quays in the downtown area

Exceptionally large suite with all amenities (laundry, dish washing machine, air fryer, kettle, hair dryer …) and complimentary laundry and dish soap. Very spacious balcony from both the sitting area and the bedroom. The building is a bit dated and some things need maintenance (the towel rack in my shower was VERY loose) however I do think that’s reflected in the price and lends itself to the value. Some dishes in the cupboards weren’t the cleanest but I’m sure that can happen between guests and with cleaning supplies provided I didn’t mind. Location was at the very end of the boardwalk but a 15 minute walk along the ocean brings you to the city centre. Two fantastic coffee places nearby and the reef marina is walking distance, great if you are planning any trips. My one piece of feedback would be the heavy advertising throughout the lobby encouraging you to book trips with them, however when I asked they told me they emailed one provider once who never got back to them. Seemed a bit silly to me especially since Park Regis would be earning commission on each trip booked? Also there is quite an aggressive check in letter indicating rules, including a $100 fee (!!!) for lost keycards. Otherwise it was very quiet and I slept very well!

For the price this looks like a reasonable stay. The room is mostly quite modern and has all the facilities you need. I have certainly stayed in cheaper and way nastier hotels in Cairns. For the price this looks like a reasonable stay. The room is mostly quite modern and has all the facilities you need. I have certainly stayed in cheaper and way nastier hotels in Cairns. The staff here were pleasant to deal with, if not a little absent from the reception counter. I never encountered cleaning staff around the building. There is a pool, however it was closed at the time of my stay. The rooftop area however has a great view, but is a largely wasted space. Still it is a nice location to hang out to catch the breeze on a warm night. The reception area feels like an after-thought, almost as though they were annoyed they had to have an area to receive guests at all. But once up in the rooms they are airy and reasonably furnished. That said, what I thought was a freshly made bed had a couple of black spots on the covers, that when put under a blacklight showed up as a much larger stain. Not the most confident I have felt about the hygiene state in a hotel. The bathroom and the facilities themselves are feeling a bit tired and dated. Again, there's far worse examples around Cairns. The location itself is fairly close to the port area, but feels like it is on the edge and away from everything - however most of what you want in Cairns is an easy walk from here. Something about this hotel feels like the owners are just going through the motions, with a lingering sense of apathy while waiting for someone else to make an offer to buy it and freshen it up. It is one of the few hotels I have stayed in of this size that didn't have a decent kitchen or breakfast area, although there were hints in the foyer of one existing once. There are vending machines though, as the person on the reception desk pointed out to me.. All in all this was a very average experience let down by some poor linen cleaning for the most crucial of functions I need in a hotel room.
