“Budget location through and through”

I stayed at this place with my wife for a weekend trip. Due to budget and time constraints, this was the only place available. I stayed at this place with my wife for a weekend trip. Due to budget and time constraints, this was the only place available. The staff were friendly enough and the room was both comfortable & sparse. The meals available downstairs were good and having various shops in walking distance was welcome. I was surprised to find that the bathroom was separate, requiring the key to get in. But being above a bar, and on a weekend, I found the place to be very noisy and had trouble trying to get some sleep. Still it is a budget location and it does its job

Basic budget hotel close to Launceston CBD. Lots of restaurants nearby. Walking distance to CBD. Though Hotels.com website says the hotel room comes with private bathroom, it is indeed a DETACHED bathroom from the hotel room which Hotels.com never mentions. This means you have to use the hotel room key to get into your bathroom. If you forget, you will be locked out from your room and you are done, as the reception desk is not 24x7. Bathroom is clean comparing with the hotel room which is full of dust with strong fish and chip smell. The pub gentleman has been very helpful looking for deodorizer but it didn't help much (I do appreciate his efforts). After having the window opened for couple days, the fish and chip smell was diminished quite a bit but it's already the time I had to move on. The room I stayed in is facing the main road, so it is pretty noisy with cars and pub music downstairs starting early morning until 9pm, and this situation is worse when I had to open the window due to the fish and fish smell. Price wise, it's a deal for such location. I do think the cleaning job can be done better. The last thing I want to say is the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Sporties Hotel on a Thursday and a Friday night. At first, I was quite impressed. For a budget room, we were checked in by friendly staff, and shown to our room, which was spacious enough and had a large en suite bathroom, with a toilet, basin and shower. We were given a kettle and two cups for the room when we asked for one. The bed was quite soft, and the carpet in the room could have done with a good vac, as there was bits of dirt and hairs on the carpet. On the Thursday evening there was a bit of noise from the pub downstairs, but on the Friday the music was really loud, and went on until the early hours of the morning, keeping us awake. I would stay at Sporties if you were looking for budget accommodation, but only during the week, as it was so noisy on the Friday night.
