Back for our 3rd stay at the Aura and found it pretty much the same. Small rooms for 4 blokes but clean & works well for a 3-night stay. The beds are a tad hard but makes you appreciate your return home. Despite repeated complaints & queries they continue to only supply one lift fob with the 2 room keys? Which means the staff have to obtain your floor when your fob less! Not a big problem but can be annoying late at night. Otherwise, it hits all the right targets and is a good central pick in the CBD.

If you choose to stay here, ask for a room on a high floor facing away from Flinders St. It's the noisiest place I have ever stayed in all my years of traveling, and there's no double glazing on the large windows. My original apartment was on the 6th floor, so no sleep all night enjoying trains, trams, traffic, emergency sirens and roadworks. It was really dirty, smelled bad, and had a view looking onto the roof of the neighbouring building covered in rubbish. I paid extra to be moved to the 21st floor the next morning, to a much cleaner apartment with the view shown in the advertising, though it was still incredibly noisy. (The convenience store along the road sells earplugs if you need some) It's not a 4 star - the room wasn't serviced once in a 4 night stay, they expect you to take your own rubbish out, and it is shabby. The location is great though, walking distance to everything, close to a tram stop, and Teddy and Chris on reception were very helpful and obliging. The good - Stayed in the apartment for two nights. Convenient location, within walking distances to tourist spots. Near railway tracks and could hear the train noise, so be aware if you are sensitive to it. The bad - Booked the carpark, but needs car lift to the floor. The carpark is tight and full of other storage material, be extremely careful during parking. The biggest problem is the lift not working properly (called the lift by remote and not come down, and requested go down but go up), so we spent extra 10 mins for getting out from the carpark. The room was clean in general but with strong smell of air freshener, the kettle was stained we didn't use it.
