Others might not like it, ie no work desk, min size in the cheaper rooms... But its quiter as off main st, but other guests doof doof is audible. Easy checkin, I think less preautho. Bit harder to find. But I love it. Upper more modern than Mercure on Therry, but its more closer to Melbourne Centra… more

Others might not like it, ie no work desk, min size in the cheaper rooms... But its quiter as off main st, but other guests doof doof is audible. Easy checkin, I think less preautho. Bit harder to find. But I love it. Upper more modern than Mercure on Therry, but its more closer to Melbourne Central basement that has a Coles, ... Also closer to trains. No tram noise. Very very muted outside noise. No buskers which is as big huge plus. Has onsite eatery, but its a nit yoo expensive, breakfast not included in nightly rate, ie they charge lots more fof it. But as I said Coles not far. No hard chair to work on a very tiny small ledge, naybe enough for s mini laptop or a tablet. Has usb charger on left of bed but not near ledge. Bearable if working very light, bug not for lots of paperwork work.

I have used this Ibis hotel 3 times this year , Feb, Jul and Dec for a stopover after my flight from Athens Greece, before returning home to Adelaide the next day. I like everything about this hotel , a good quality guest computer, great restaurant, impeccable room, convenient location, Professional staff and not least, essential for me a late checkout, for which I am most appreciative . I would like to take this opportunity to mention two long standing exceptional staff members that make the check in process a pleasure even after a 23 hour flight from Europe. Harshita and Suttida, both Reception GSA, Professional, intelligent and welcoming with charming personalities.

Tiny tiny room but it was fine for my purposes (on my own, just two nights and for work). Tiny as in there’s no room to put anything on the floor unless you wanted to block off access to another part of the room. If you were travelling with a baby, even without two adults, you could not manage in this room with baby-tier luggage. I reckon even with one checked bag-sized bag you could be in trouble. It’s one of those rooms where the sink is in the bedroom part of the room and forms a barrier between the bed part of the room and the entry part of the room. It’s a room size and configuration you get commonly in cities where space is a serious premium like Singapore and Hong Kong. I know Ibis is a budget hotel but it’s useful to know. I’ve stayed at the Novotel in the same building and the standard rooms are way bigger. The shower was a bit cramped in that you kind of have to shimmy out of the way of the door as you get in by almost leaving the bathroom altogether. Similarly, opening it inwards on yourself in the shower would mean backing uncomfortably into the shower fixtures. You could open the door the opposite way when getting in and out; I’m just explaining the size of the spaces using the shower door as an illustrative example of just how small it is. The shower pressure was okay (not crazy weak or wonderfully strong) but the temperature was bad: I had to have it on full hot and no cold to be warm enough. If you like a shower hot you won’t enjoy it. The bed was comfortable. I couldn’t hear any neighbours if I had any but could clearly hear voices opening and closing in the hallway outside my room. Check in experience was all online through a screen. Kind of a tedious thing to do after a big day but it was fine to do without needing to ask anything or do anything special (eg you could elect the number of keys you wanted cut, either 1 or 2). There’s an AI chatbot you can interact with on WhatsApp and put service requests in through. You can also call and talk to a person using the room phone. I’d stay again. It was good value for money.

I am a great fan of the IBIS concept. All the things you need and nothing you don't want. The air conditioning worked reasonably well. Good wardrobe space and tea/coffee making facilities. Always a plus. We enjoyed a complimentary beverage in the bar, and although I rarely use a TV in a hotel, the screen was ideal for catching up on the Australian Open. On the other hand, you have to crane your neck to shave in the mirror, and the carpets could do with a good clean both in the room and also the common areas. Most of all, though, the windows are long overdue for cleaning. Note that bed is a queen, not a king. Overall recommended.
