Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands

This is a very well appointed Marriott in the Docklands area, obviously, of this great city. The location is pretty good especially when you drive there yourself since it avoids driving in central Melbourne which is, in my experience, to be avoided if possible! We were here for the Ashes and the MCG can be easily reached by the trams that leave from right outside the property, as can the CBD, although we used Ubers much of the time that are very available. It is a classic Marriott. That is to say, nothing hugely innovative here although you get a very good, well executed product. We are Titanium Bonvoy members which always helps. One has access to a relatively small, but very comfortable M Club which also serves wine and hors d'oeuvres for a couple of hours each evening which was very welcome. It is also there one can stock up on soft drinks etc. at other times. Breakfast is buffet style and one is very well provided with a wide selection of food items from classic cooked breakfasts, through omelettes to fruit and pastries. The room was very comfortable and modern. There is an excellent walk in shower unit and the bathroom is unusual in that the large mirrors over the sink slide to open up the rest of the room. I don't know why one would ever need to open this but there you are! The room is fairly standard with a comfortable bed, large TV etc and is a perfectly pleasant place to be. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a bell service and concierge as one would expect. The Docklands area is lovely to wander around and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Definitely a good choice to stay in Melbourne, especally if being in the center of town isn't important to you

This is our second stay at the Marriott Docklands. We booked a M Club Lounge Access room. The room had a king bed, multiple pillows, large wall mounted tv, wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers, safe, 2 drawers for your clothes, small round table & two chairs, a large comfy chair. A low seat at the end of bed where my husband kept on hitting his foot on. The bathroom was a bit tight, with a single vanity and 2 drawers to keep some toiletries in. The shower was nice and hot but water leaked out, which seems to be a common theme in hotels these days. Having the M Club access, breakfast is served in the main dining are. Breakfast was very good, all the foods you can think of was there. Omelets upon request, plus other egg dishes. The fresh fruit was sweet and it was good to see avocado for the taking. Evening canapes was served in the club. The setup was a buffet style, food was excellent with different choices each night. Drinks were wine, beer, spirits and soft drink. Club servers were friendly and very polite. Our overall stay here was very good, close to restaurants along the wharf area, tram stop around the corner, shops and cafes everywhere.
