First impressions pulling up outside were that we needed to cancel and stay elsewhere. The building isn’t grand, nor is it welcoming. Several people appeared to be loitering in the carpark. Perhaps they’re permanent residents? The reception wasn’t obvious, and looked very makeshift. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Coffee and milk were offered. It is on a very busy road, which made things difficult getting to it. But once we safely crossed 3 lanes of traffic we were okay. Key was given quickly, and directions were provided - including hours the gate would be closed and how to open and close it. We headed into the apartment block, which initially smelt of cigarette smoke and looked like a 1970s apartment building. Thankfully we only had to climb 1 set of stairs. The smell of smoke dissipated as we neared our room. Upon nervous entry, we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment had 2 bedrooms, separate bathroom, separate kitchen/dining and was quite modern. Each bedroom had a tv. It smelt heavily of cleaning chemicals when we first walked in. It was well furnished with two queen beds. The lamp shades and artwork were dusty, dirty and frayed. But otherwise everything else was in good condition. The kitchen had a table, 4 seats, standard size fridge, microwave, cooktop and oven. It was well appointed with a kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery. Bathroom was very clean and modern also. Shower had decent water pressure. No bath available. Both bedrooms had aircon units. There is a laundry onsite for those staying for a longer period of time. Night time proved interesting with noise. Our neighbours could be heard very clearly, it was like they were in our apartment. Not great with getting little kids to sleep. We could also hear guests outside and in other apartments close by (particularly crying children). Bed was ok. Certainly not the worst night sleep we’ve had . Didn’t use the aircon units due to mould in the units. Thankfully it wasn’t needed after opening windows. Cleaning staff checked in daily to see if we needed towels. Check out was easy. Staff were great. And bonus was the free parking onsite. Honestly - we’d stay again. Great location, close to the Royal children’s hospital, the zoo, flemington and the city. Modern and clean apartment and free parking. Great for the price we paid!!

“Value for money”

We chose this motel as it has secure parking at no extra cost. We found the room (up above the car via stairs) clean and tidy with an updated bathroom and everything needed for a one night stay. Access off the busy road isnt that easy but a slow approach helped. Great value. Staff were helpful.

“A gem close to the city.”

The 1 bedroom apartment was very clean and functional. We stayed here for 6 nights and had everything we needed. The only reason I didn’t give a 5/5 rating was the couch was pretty uncomfortable to sit in but this is a small complaint. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was crisp and clean.… more

The 1 bedroom apartment was very clean and functional. We stayed here for 6 nights and had everything we needed. The only reason I didn’t give a 5/5 rating was the couch was pretty uncomfortable to sit in but this is a small complaint. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was crisp and clean. The location was perfect for getting to anywhere in Melbourne with 2 tram stops and a train station within a 3 minute walk. Having somewhere to park our car that is secure was our main reason for choosing it and everything else was a bonus. It may not be the prettiest place but the apartment was lovely. There are lots of stairs so if you have mobility issues this wouldn’t be a great choice.
