This was my 1st trip to Melbourne and when we arrived I will admit I was a little disappointed as the entry is down an alley and reception on the 6th floor. HOWEVER the staff are friendly and sooooo helpful. Once we got our bearings with Google maps I discovered this was a great location. Most good things are found in lane ways in Melbourne and Voco hotel is one of them. Our room was on the 15th floor. Incredible views of the city. We chose a slightly bigger 32 sqm room as we stayed a week. It was an odd layout with a huge separate toilet, and both shower and toilet had a view (but also thick curtains which remained closed). Nice to have chairs and table in the room but only a fridge, cups and glasses for 2, a kettle and that’s about it. So you need to eat out which is fine by me. Huge bed with crisp sheets. Aircon is weird. We found 25°c was comfortable during the day and 22°c at night. But it’s tricky to get right. The hotel restaurant/bar Blacksmith is outstanding. The best meals we had were here and MoVida Aqui was a close 2nd. I wish we’d had a few more at Blacksmith in hind sight. But there are plenty of options hiding in lanes around the hotel and across the road in Hardware Lane. Coles is a 7 min walk away in the closest shopping mall. Shopping.. WOW!!! This hotel is close to several malls and the trams are really close by too. We took the free tram ride down to Flinders almost daily for food, coffee and gelato. Also visit Et Al in Flinders for great funky clothes. The hotel is very new so everything is still in pretty good modern clean condition. The service staff do a lovely job fixing the rooms daily. There is great fresh filtered water available on level 6 to refill your water bottles. The hallways could do with a bit of spruce up around service doors but that’s a small thing. The pool is a small lap pool and the ladder was not manageable for me. We will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel that is beautifully appointed. Staff very nice and friendly. Dining / breakfast room is very nice with a good selection available. This hotel is in an excellent location and close to all the shops and entertainment that Melbourne is famous for. The elevator system was painful and there were people going up and down struggling to get to where they wanted to go. I was one of them . The swimming pool is nice but as an observer it looked difficult for people to get in and out of as it is elevated. The other downside is that when you are exiting the pool everyone in the bar can see you struggling to get out. Once out of the pool I’m pretty sure that you have to walk back in through the bar to get to your room. At least that’s what I saw people doing and there was water on the floor. Definitely put me off attempting to use it. Overall a lovely stay .

We had a week's stay in Melbourne and this was a perfect location for getting around Melbourne and seeing all main attractions, therefore a definite positive. Check in was very easy and seamless especially as we checked in just past midnight. Rooms large enough and extremely comfortable bed and pillows, good bathroom facilities and wonderful shower. Breakfast was exceptional, lovely city views, great choice of breakfast, wonderful coffee (as you would expect in Melbourne) and the staff were brilliant, personable, friendly, attentive and quick to clear tables. The rooftop pool is a very, very small pool and only relevant for a quick dip and not actually swimming, also no sun loungers only tables and chairs Highly recommend
