Renaissance Wien Hotel

“Wonderful city, wonderful hotel.”

I nearly changed my stay at this hotel because I was almost put off by some of the reviews. Glad I didn't. All I can say is some people are not easy to please. I nearly changed my stay at this hotel because I was almost put off by some of the reviews. Glad I didn't. All I can say is some people are not easy to please. The hotel is a little out of the city centre but it is so much cheaper than the city centre hotels and getting to it could not be easier. The U4 station Meidling Hauptsrasse is less than 50 metres away. In the vicinity there are plenty of bars and restaurants and around 400 metres pleasant walk away is the Langenfeldgasse station where you can take the U4 or the U6 train. The ride into the heart of the city is only 15 minutes and if you change at Mitte station you can catch the S7 every half hour to the airport which is so much cheaper than the CAT train. The reception and restaurant staff were all very friendly and most helpful. Breakfast was tasty with a great selection. Our room was upgraded to a premier room and had a nice sofa and kettle with tea and coffee making facilities which you don't always get in Austria. As stated, don't anticipate watching any TV though as there are only 3 English language channels, two of which are finance and one appears to come from China ! The bathroom was fine with a walk in shower and a seperate toilet next door. The bed was a king and extremely comfortable, with lovely crisp bedding. The seventh floor has a gym with great views, if you like that sort of thing ! Schoenbrunn Castle is a short walk or one stop on the U4, don't miss that. If you're in town and want a beer or a good meal, visit the 7Stern Brauerei on 7sternstrasse, just off Mariahilferstrasse the main shopping street, station Neubaugasse. Very good beer, good food and very reasonable prices. Enjoy !

I recently spent 9 nights at the Renaissance Vienna and I enjoyed my stay. I was greeted warmly at check in and was given my room in short order. My room overlooked a courtyard and was spacious & quiet. The hotel is located just across the street from Meidling subway stop and central Vienna is only a short metro ride away.

“Be Very Cautious ”

First of all they gave me a voucher for a welcome drink, then they charged me for such, later they insisted that they have never gave me a voucher and luckily I had a photo of it. However, later their member of staff told me that they will check the camera how many drinks I had at the restaurant.... more

First of all they gave me a voucher for a welcome drink, then they charged me for such, later they insisted that they have never gave me a voucher and luckily I had a photo of it. However, later their member of staff told me that they will check the camera how many drinks I had at the restaurant. Next day, they resolved this matter, and removed it. One evening the reception told me that I can just and only pay my room incidentals with card only, and that i can swipe my card for every 50 Euros only, the next day, I was told that I can pay in cash also. When I checked out, I paid for my hotel restaurant consumption in cash, and I was told that my credit card deposit will be cancelled, a week passed and I even already received credit card points for such a transaction, so I emailed them and was told that they would deeply apologized for having charged me twice. Apart from the hotel staff trying to rip me off at all possible aspects, the room itself and the hotel facilities and grounds were great.
