My husband and I booked the Hotel Antonius fairly last-minute through Crystal Ski, only opting to travel about four days before we left. It's been four years since we last went skiing and so wanted to have a lovely hotel in a beautiful resort. When we arrived at the Hotel Antonius in Kaprun, we were not disappointed! The staff were so welcoming and incredibly thorough with the health checks due to Covid which was reassuring. We went into our room and I can honestly say that I shed a few tears as it was just perfect in every way. The facilities were exceptional and the room was so big, consisting of a bedroom, lounge area, separate toilet and bathrooms, a walk-in wardrobe/dressing area and a large balcony with a stunning view of the mountains. The room was modern, but with a traditional chalet feel to it. The food in the hotel was delicious. Usually, we choose to stay in the hotel for a few meals and then eat out on a few nights, but not in Hotel Antonius. We didn't want to eat out in case we missed out on some more delicious food!! There was a heated boot and ski room which was spacious and we were amazed that nobody felt the need to lock their skis as we had experienced in other resorts across France and Italy. The wellness spa was absolutely lovely and a real treat at the end of a day's skiing. I was a little surprised when I realised that the spa should only be accessed naked, but I soon got over my British reservations about being naked in public, and just got on with it like everyone else! The ski bus stopped right outside the hotel every half an hour and delivered us to the main ski lift. I do agree that it is a bit of a task to get to the top of the galcier and took us just about an hour from the bottom lift to the very top, but it is worth the journey. For us, the location worked because it gave us some welcomed peace away from the busy areas of the resort and so this far outweighed the long cable car rides. All the staff were friendly, helpful and polite at all times and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We certainly didn't experience any rude staff at all as has been suggested in previous reviews - I guess you get treated how you treat others. This was a perfect holiday for us after a long break away from skiing and we are already trying to plan our return to Kaprun and the Hotel Antonius next year, with out a doubt!

Have just returned from a week’s king trip and we stayed at this hotel - Oh my god, cannot praise this hotel and its staff highly enough, all very polite,friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was immaculately kept, our room was a superior one with balcony, the facilities were all of highest quality, the wellness suite with a small family pool, sauna,steam room with all you’d expect from a continental hotel. The food was of the highest quality, nothing pretentious, just good wholesome food, that we would happily have come back for seconds for if able. I did not another review of this hotel saying that the found the staff rude and unhelpful, we did definitely NOT find this to be the case as stated before they were ALL very polite and friendly. If we come back to Kaprun again we will definitely be looking to book here again

“Superb hotel, ideally situated for a ski holiday”

We returned from Kaprun on Saturday after a fantastic week skiing. We stayed at the Antonius and I must report back that the hotel is simply lovely. The food is fantastic. So much choice. Fresh and delicious every day, from the ample varied breakfast to the evening meal. Even as a vegetarian I ate well every single day with either a veggie option or fish dish. Our room (303 on 3rd floor) although compact was still ample for us as a couple, with lovely views of the local 'castle'. The hotel is warm throughout (take light clothing for meal times) - we used to switch our radiator off at night and sleep with the window ajar. The bathroom (and separate toilet) were pleasant although a standing shower rather than a hand held would have been preferred. There was plenty of storage space in a huge wardrobe and various cupboards and shelving too. Plenty of room for all our ski coats, salopettes etc. The wifi was non-existent in our room and the hotel offered to assist me with a booster but this also did not work. However, we were on holiday and wifi was not the most important element and did not detract from our experience. I found the swimming pool (inside) a bit small and cool but my husband enjoyed swimming and also used the gym facilities. We also took our running gear and went for some lovely runs in the local area. My only criticism of the hotel is simply the pillows are not at all comfy. But, thats a personal preference and sorted by using a jumper underneath the pillow provided. The ski bus stopped right outside the hotel and we had a seat on every trip (I would recommend staying on right up to the glacier, rather than getting off with everyone else at the Maiskogelbahn lifts, as it takes an age catching various cable cars before you can actually get skiing properly if you want to ski the glacier area). As for the staff, they were simply lovely. Hardworking, always smiling and offering to help. Friendly and efficient. I must also add how sorry I am to read today that the region has now closed due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the shut down of all ski resorts. The staff must be so disappointed.
