“Lovely hotel at the end of a stunning valley”

My other half and I stayed here for a week in July. I had been to Austria quite a few times but not the Zillertal. The location of the hotel is almost at teh end of a valley and look onto the Hintertux Glacier. This is a perfect location as it is quiet and the scenery was simply stunning. There wa… more

“A Hotel That Truly Cares About Its Guests”

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and was particularly impressed by the outstanding service. Due to my travel schedule, I arrived quite late in the evening, after the restaurant had already closed. To my surprise, the staff had prepared food for me so that I would not have to go hungry. “Bad Kirchler’s Ferienhof zur Sonne”

Our family enjoyed Bad Kirchler’s Ferienhof zur Sonne, in September, with half pension. The food was delicious & the pool & sauna were a perfect way to relax & warm-up after our trip to the Hintertux Glacier & Nature Ice Palace extended boat tour. We stayed one night & booked directly through Ferie… more

Little did I know what an Austrian twin room was( google it if you don’t know) we had already had a nightmare journey getting to the resort due to plane cancellations and bad weather, only to find that I had to share a bed w… more

  • Yes, guests at Thermal Badhotel Kirchler have highlighted that: My other half and I stayed here for a week in July. I had been to Austria quite a few times but not the Zillertal. The location of the hotel is almost at teh end of a valley and look onto the Hintertux Glacier. This is a perfect location as it is quiet and the scenery was simply stunning. There was a littl e bit of construction work being donebut we were prewarnwed and it certainly didn't detract from the place. The room we stayed in was a "type 3" and was huge. It had a third single bed and a sofa that could also be made into a bed. The veiw from the balcony was amazing. I have seen a review mentioning the dated bathroom and need for cleaning up the tiles. This was fairly minor and the hotel are emabrking on an update anyway. Staff were freindly and efficient. Some spoke English but I speak German so didn't really notice. There were no other English speakers int he hotel. There is an indoor pool which is of a resaonable size. The water temperature is cool but we had high temperatures so that was welcome. There were sunbeds inside and around the pool as well as on a sun terrace. This spa area was clean and never got too busy. There are three sauna's and a steam room. One sauna was for nudists only (with a small nudist sun terrace). The others seemed optional and nobody seemed too bothered. There were several quiet rooms as well. The Spa was a great area and much needed at the end of the day. We stayed 7 nights half board. Breakfast was the usual mix of cold meets, cheese, rolls, fruit, cereal and some hot itesm such as eggs, bacon etc. All was very enjoyable and a good start to the day. Five of the evening meals were a la carte. You chose your main cours in the morning from 2 meat/fish choices and a vegatarion. Meals started with the salad bar, starter, soup, main course, dessert and cheese/biscuits. The quality of the food was really good but, for us, a bit too much as we didn't always have all courses. One night a week appears to have a grill where this is prepared outside and was a buffet style selection. There was also a buffet night with a lot of choices of local meats etc. Again, the quality was high. There is also a bar inthe hotel that is reasonably sized and quiet. All in all this was a real gem. We managed to spend a lot of time in the valley as well as in the pool and came home very relaxed. I have stayed in similar hotels and the cost here was very reasonable in comparison with them. We hired a car and it is worth bearing in mind any travel to other cable cars or towns is at least a 30 minute drive or a longer bus journey. I would recommend a trip to the top of the glacier, amazing at 3250m and deep snow. The whole Zillertal is an area with lots to explore and we have scratched the surface. We will be back in the Zillertal next year as well as at the Thermal-Badhotel Kirchler.
