Should be a 5 star stay BUT poor room design features are so evident = 4 stars to me. 4.5 IF generous. I stay approx 100-120 nights overseas / year, so it is the little things that too easily irk that better hotels should have eliminated at the design stage. We were in room #428 from 09 May for 2 nights as part of an Adventures Abroad tour group. The pluses: All very clean and modern. Not sure a lime green coloured room ceiling is needed though. Some other tour members appeared to not be in such a modernised room; as their carpets were very worn, etc, The air con, kind of, can be controlled but it was very slow to actually cool the room. If you wanted, a window could be opened (but then lots of traffic noise to our front facing room. A kettle with nice large mugs and all tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc, etc was supplied. A great buffet breakfast. Possibly the best of 34 nights across this region. The in room safe was secured and useable. The vanity sink plug mechanism actually initially worked here. After 4 nights in Kyrgyzstan (where there is apparently a national shortage of vanity sink plugs) this was a noteworthy feature of our recent travels. The metal pair of levers though disconnected by our 2nd day here. The walk in shower and most features of the small bathroom work well; but the in-swinging timber access door is a nuisance. A cavity slider here would have been the cleaver design choice. Facial tissues, body moisturiser and an iron were all supplied. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on 10 May and the male waiter on duty was so professional and helpful. The pair of meals was also excellent. The minuses: The lift controls to select your floor are unique / and not helpful to world weary travellers who were up at 01:00 on our arrival day to fly into Baku. The room reeked of room deodoriser when we walked in. Why do hotels think that this product is a nice smell to new guests? The smell of clean linen would suffice please. The std double bed room is quite small and even with one suitcase stand, there is very minimal space to open out two world traveller suitcases. There are no power points close to the bed head. We have 2 CPAP machines, so this matters greatly to us. We travel with a 3 m electrical extension cord for such dumb design establishments. The fridge never chilled at all. Of the 4 room towels supplied, one was newish and soft while the other three were very thin and very scratchy. Getting free access to the hotel’s wifi is more complicated than it should be AND even when logged in, the speed was so slow in the room. Is this meant to be a business hotel? The placement of the toilet roll holder must have been a design decision made by a committee. For tour bus passengers disembarking and reboarding there is no where really safe to stand on the always busy, multilane road. Who thought this through again at the basic design phase?

“Pleasent stay in a good location”

Stayed 5 nights at the Radisson hotel Baku. Had a pleasent stay. Upgraded from Standard to Superior room while check-in. Free of charge. Nice, newly renovaited room with very good beds. Aircon was ok. Fridge (empty) available in the room, and two bottles complimentery daily. Nice breakfast! Employees are very polite, serviceminded and they all speak english.

“A pleasant stay”

The room was rather small, but clean and functional. Comfortable bed, in-room safe, and practical shower cabin. To my recollection, no fridge. The restaurant is called "Lagom" which is a common Swedish expression for something that is "just the right measure." The breakfast provided good choices f… more

The room was rather small, but clean and functional. Comfortable bed, in-room safe, and practical shower cabin. To my recollection, no fridge. The restaurant is called "Lagom" which is a common Swedish expression for something that is "just the right measure." The breakfast provided good choices for a healthy start of the day. The hotel responded promptly to my request for an airport transfer and communication with them was exemplary.
