The hotel was a great place for me to stay. It was in the Old Town and within walking distance to main attractions, shops and restaurants. The area was safe and the hotel staff were very attentive and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable plus the very good breakfast each morning was much appreciated. The hotel staff will organize tours for you and arrange airport transfers. Highly recommend staying at Sands of Time.

“Best Baku Hotel Experience ”

Located in the heart of the Old City, I can highly recommend this hotel. The staff are wonderfully helpful and trustworthy. From the moment I checked in to them ordering an inexpensive taxi to the airport on departure, I felt in safe hands.

We recently stayed at Sands of Time with our family of six, and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel is located in Baku’s beautiful Old City, which gives it a lot of character. Many major attractions are within walking distance, so the location is very convenient for sightseeing. However, do note that the hotel is in a tight street where cars cannot reach — taxis stop outside the Old City gate, and they charge a 10 manat entry fee, which can add up. We had originally booked a large room, but were informed upon arrival that only one such room was available — and it was on the top floor with no elevator. This was tough for us as we had heavy luggage and my elderly grandmother. The room was also very hot, likely because it hadn’t been used in a while. The small air conditioning unit struggled to cool the space, and I recommend the hotel consider better cooling options or at least provide a fan. That said, the staff were fantastic. After voicing our concerns, they kindly offered us a room on the ground floor, which was much easier for us to access and slightly better in terms of air conditioning. Their helpful attitude made a real difference in our experience. Breakfast was served every morning — simple, but nice. The manager made a fresh omelette for us daily, which was a lovely gesture. However, there wasn’t much variety, so rotating the breakfast options would be a welcome improvement. Overall, Sands of Time is a great pick if you want to stay in the Old City with a local, authentic feel. The service is excellent and the location unbeatable. Just be aware of the limitations regarding car access, air conditioning, and room access for elderly guests. I’d definitely recommend it — and look forward to an even better experience next time!
