I HIGHLY recommend Pronkenburg.  HOSTS - Gracious, accomodating and extremely personable. Monsieur Coppen provides shuttle service to the Bruge train station and to the center of the village of Lissewege itself. Madame Coppen provides EXCELLENT home prepared healthy breakfast for $20 euros per person .  Both the Coppens can tell you anything you want to know about what to see in the area and how to get there.  You'd be hard pressed to find a better host and hostess.  HOUSE/GROUNDS - This is a GORGEOUS 300 year old remodeled home carefully curated with objects de art and surrounded by 17 acres of beautiful and peaceful well landscaped grounds.  ROOM- I recommend the Indian room where a beautifully carved erotic love diety can watch over you as you lay in the bed.  It comes with a wood burning stove that heats the room up in no time. The toilet, sink and shower are in the room. The hot water is really hot, which is great after a long day of walking around. The shower pressure is forceful and the mattress is soft but not too soft, very comfortable for sleeping and pleasure. The house is 300 years old so it is a bit underlit and it is drafty.  But the Coppens provide luxury bathrobes for the guests plus along with the wood burning stove there is a radiator in the rooms that cranks big time.  It was easy as pie to get to Bruge. Mr. Coppen shuttled us to the Bruge Zuit train station. But it is also as easy as pie to get back.  A 12 minute walk from The Grand Place was the bus stop for bus 479 which runs until 10:17pm every day but Sunday. The schedule says it is a 27 minute ride to a stop fewer than 5 minutes walking to Pronkenburg. But that's not true. The bus driver fancies himself a Nascar Driver. He skipped 13 stops where no one was waiting and got us there in fewer than 20 minutes. Easy Peasy.  Even if you never visited Bruge or the other tourist cities nearby you could visit this place as a retreat as it is near canal following nature walks and farmland.  The Indian Room comes with a private courtyard where you could sit a listen to the most beautiful birdsong.  I just highly recommend this B&B for the host and hostess, the rooms, the grounds, the house and the location.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay before Easter. We are a family of four so had the room with a double bed downstairs and twin beds on the mezzanine. The bathroom was part way up the stairs. The rooms were both very comfortable, spacious and clean. The stairs up to the mezzanine were steep but our children aged 7 and 9 managed fine. We paid extra for breakfast and it was well worth it. The host made a homemade yogurt or rice pudding and fruit mix, pastries were fresh and plentiful and there was cold meat, cheese and dips too. This was certainly a much better breakfast than ones we had in the chain hotels. The hosts were friendly and welcomed our children as a grandparent might. They took them into the garden and let them play with the dogs (who were extremely well trained) and help take out the horse. They gave useful advice about parking in Bruges and taking the train to Ghent as well as offering crockery if we wanted to bring back food rather than eat out. Decor in the public areas is very artistic and a bit different but makes this a unique place to stay. There is an honesty bar too if you wish to use it. Great location if you have a car as is not too far from the cities or the beach. Would certainly return.

I was travelling with my family, and we decided to stay here so we could visit Brugge, it was so confortable and Axel a marvelous host, breakfast was so deliciuos it made me feel like home. I will absolutely go again with out hesitation.

I can't express enough how much we loved staying here. I've stayed at a lot of old B&Bs and this one by far had the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen. You can tell the owners take great care of the house. We stayed in the morrocan room upstairs and were pleased with how comfortable the beds were. The breakfast was worth the price. The best part was how helpful and caring our hosts were. We had a few obstacles on our trip and Axel and her husband went out of their way to help make sure we were well taken care of. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area looking for a unique stay.
