Having just spent 4 days in a tent in Spa, I think I would have happily slept anywhere… and was pleasantly surprised to see a nice spacious clean room upon our arrival. I had booked the hotel as it offered family rooms, but I didn’t know it also worked as some sort of hostel (it was the check in lady who said we had booked a ‘private 4 person room’ that gave it away!) so, as this dawned on me at check in, I was a little nervous about where I had brought my family. I had read some trip advisor reviews and it had a high rating overall, but I was a little concerned! I needent have been, the room (006) on the ground floor had 4 beds (2 bunk beds for kids) the bed linen was clean and so was the bathroom. Having lived under canvas for 4 days, the shower was very welcome and didn’t flood (unlike other people’s experiences on here). My husband had read that the area was a bit rough and didn’t want to venture out much, but if I am honest, I didn’t think it was too dissimilar to some other big cities we have been to. So we took a short walk for tea at a local restaurant and it was spot on. We did come home and go straight to bed, there was no noise at night to wake us, and we went to bed at 7.30pm 😂. No kettle in the room (but that is because it’s a hostel type thing I think) but that was the only thing missing. Breakfast was fine, all the usual things we expect on the continent and it was peaceful as we ate at 8am. It really is a stones throw from the train station which means that the Eurostar travel is made much more relaxing by not having to rush about with trams or busses to get to station.

Location was good, 10 min from shops and grand place. Staff were friendly. My only issues was there was one pillow per person and they were small and thin. The breakfast was not great at all, not many options so i would avoid and go into the city for breakfast. The window in our room would also not open! so when we got hot we could not get fresh air. And there is no free storage for luggage while u wait to check in, u either pay 1 euro for an hour or u have to pay 6 euro for 24 hours, no in between. However my stay was pleasant overall, the hotel was clean and staff were attentive, the bar was nice and the shower and toilet facilities were great, the room was incredibly spacious, but could do with some more lighting. The noise level was minor and u cannot hear neighbouring rooms, just a few school trips being loud here and there. The overall vibe of the hotel was pleasant. The hotel was practical and just what we needed apart from some minor issues. I would return.
