“My stay at NH Brussels EU Berlaymont”

My stay was for 3 days. It was not my first time to stay at NH Brussels Berlaymont. The hotel is close to the commission european and also the subway Schuman. The bus 12 "Airport" is just 3 minutes from the hotel.

It was a good, clean hotel. Lovely staff members. Check in was really quick and easy. Location was good as wherever we went it was a 20 minute metro ride. Metro station - Schuman was less than 5 min walk away. As the hotel is right next to the European Commission there were quite a few business/conference people at the hotel, in a way it was good as it was just simply adults. Right opposite the hotel there is a cafe - Cotti Coffee. Hotel is safe as after a certain time you can only enter the hotel with your key card, or you will have to buzz on the door. Daily house keeping, they also give you complimentary water daily, which we stored in the fridge, which helped during the heatwave. Also around the corner there is a local convenient store. Check out is 12pm which was great as we checked out around 10:30am left our luggage at the hotel, if you wanted a later check out it was around €16 per hour. We took a stroll around the area and came across this park which had a lovely minke waterfall- Jardin de la vallée du Maelbeek. We were staying on the 6th floor which was great as we had a mini balcony. As a 4 star hotel they didn’t have bath robes, slippers or an iron or ironing board in the room. I did call up reception and they delivered the iron and board within minutes. They did however, have a trouser presser in the room, didn’t use it incase I burnt my trousers. They also had a shoe polish machine in the corridor. Breakfast was such a let down it was the same thing everyday. Not a lot of vegetarian option, they had a vegetarian dish with chicken…which I think they were meant to label it as chicken with vegetables. They had a coffee machine where you could make your own hot drinks, loads of juices and salads. They also had syrups for your hot drinks which was lovely. They also have tourist tax which you once you check in. We paid €20 roughly €5 each night. It states there’s a gym in the hotel, we did look for it but we thought they might’ve changed it into a conference room as there were quite a few conference rooms there. It was a good hotel, and I will definitely recommend to others and will come back to this hotel.

“Feel like a diplomat”

Stayed here over the May holiday weekend. Very quiet location, but close to Schuman underground station, so easy to get to the city centre. Clean, very presentable, well maintained rooms. Stayed here over the May holiday weekend. Very quiet location, but close to Schuman underground station, so easy to get to the city centre. Clean, very presentable, well maintained rooms. Comfortable bed, good shower. Staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. The hotel is a curious shape as the lifts are down a flight of stairs and along a corridor towards the back of the building. If you want a room with a view, you may have to ask for one. The close proximity to the EU Commission HQ means that things are probably quite a lot busier during the normal working week. I guess visiting high flying diplomats stay elsewhere but this is likely to be where the ordinary visiting civil servant would stay, so you can feel like you're mixing with the power brokers of the EU :)
