Usually, we stay at the excellent Park Hotel when we visit Leuven. But their rates seem to have shot up. So we opted for Hotel Industrie instead, for our one night stay. It, like the Park, is close to the station, but on the town side. It is overhead a popular bar/restaurant. The rooms are up a couple of floors and face the street, rather than the square - so it was very quiet at night. It is a one-star hotel per the sign on the door, so it is basic. But it has all the essentials. As well as being very quiet, it was very clean. The WiFi is very fast. And the bed was very comfortable. I got a great night's sleep. Just be aware that the rooms are on the third and fourth floors and there is no lift. The buffet breakfast is really excellent. Great coffee. Hot and cold buffet. Excellent quality fare. Nice staff. Hotel Industrie has now replaced the Park as our go-to hotel in Leuven. We will definitely be back!

“Great comfy stay”

Fabulous looking building from the outside, rooms are a bit rough but it’s an old historic building, the beds are comfy & clean, view from window was great, hair dryer didn’t work, can’t see bathroom mirror if your short, breakfast didn’t look like much but everything was fresh, tasty and plentiful… more

Fabulous looking building from the outside, rooms are a bit rough but it’s an old historic building, the beds are comfy & clean, view from window was great, hair dryer didn’t work, can’t see bathroom mirror if your short, breakfast didn’t look like much but everything was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Staff were really friendly, location was amazing, right by train station, loads of bars, shops & restaurants. For the price we paid we were so happy and would return here. They had a new booking system, so there was confusion if we paid the city tax and were asked a few times, so have your emails ready to show them if you check in online.

Much of this review pertains specifically to the "apartment." We chose to stay in the spacious 1 BR Industrie apartment for a few more bucks. It is still on the square, a couple buildings over from the hotel and cafe with a keyed private (ish) entry - you have to go through a door at the Sirene bar. What's good: prime train station area for convenience on a lively busy square lined with cafes and other basic amenity hotels. Walk to the center of town in 15 - 20 minutes, or take one of the constant busses - you are next to the station. The flat is a large living space and a separate bedroom. It is reasonably well appointed but it is no frills. The one thing they dont have is a freezer - just a fridge. There are some cosmetic things that could help out, like window treatments in the main area, and some minor maintenance issues (no roll holder for toilet paper for example.) View of the square is amazing with a little speaker's balcony. The bed room has no view and is very close to the next building. Breakfast is in the main hotel cafe - we found it to be just fine. Cheeses and breads, eggs, pastry, etc. Management is friendly and cordial. There is only one critical flaw. The apartment is not air conditioned. When we checked in it was 85 Fahrenheit in Leuven - and the apartment was so hot, it was barely habitable. There is not enough airflow circulation to really affect this. There is a fan in the bed room but it is not enough. We were fortunate that the next two days were seasonable in the 70's, and it was ok for the rest of our stay. But be forewarned about this. Otherwise it's really a good place particularly if being near the station is helpful to you as it was in our case.

“Practical location with good value for a bit of rustic charm”

The hotel was comfortably located near the train station, better than most neighborhoods I've stayed in near stations, and not too far from the city centre. It would have been nicer if we could have checked in before 3:00, but this seems to be somewhat regular in Belgium. The staff were not very present but were pleasant enough. The hotel is an old style building with a bit of rustic charm. No elevator to the 3rd floor, so if you have lots of luggage might be tricky, but not too bad with some small bags. The room was clean and decent size. Not very well maintained, with some chipped paint etc., but nice enough. The price was rather reasonable for all of this and for a basic room was very solid.
