We had a fantastic stay at Chateau des Thermes. We arrived at 11 o’clock (3 hours before check in) and expected to be given a locker, however we were able to get into our room straight away. The room was fantastic, very spacious, French doors to given plenty of light and fresh air and a free mini bar. The spa itself is excellent, large outdoor pool, indoor pool, numerous jacuzzis and saunas and, our favourite, the musical bath. The setting was beautiful and there were many outdoor seating areas. We visited in August and both days were quiet. Dinner was 3 courses for €45 and I can’t recommend it enough. My husband thinks the iberico pork was the best meal he has ever had. The best thing about the hotel is the fact you can use the spa for the whole day you check in and out meaning the price is quite a bargain. There is a nice sculpture park outside the hotel, for a stroll and it is easily accessible from Leige via public transport (30 mins by bus from the station). Cannot recommend it enough and we will be frequent visitors!

“Great hotel, shame about the service.”

I booked this hotel as a treat to celebrate my 30th birthday. We booked four rooms in total. The hotel is beautiful, fantastic facilities and lovely, comfortable rooms- all the right ingredients for a perfect stay. However, I wanted to raise a few points that we found to be incredibly disappointing and they are all linked to the level of service provided by the staff. In the run up to our stay, I rang the hotel to explain that it was celebrate a special occasion and that I wanted to book us each a spa treatment (extra business for them!), I was attended to in a less-than-pleasant manner and even found myself apologising for the inconvenience I had quite clearly caused the lady who dealt with my call. Secondly, we booked a three-course dinner in the restaurant and when I found there were no meat of fish-less options as a main, I asked the waitress if there was perhaps a vegetarian alternative she could offer. My question was met with an eye roll and she asked me if I had warned the hotel in advance that I was a vegetarian. I was quite shocked with this response as in a hotel of this calibre and price, I would not have expected it to be an obstacle... It's not a medical condition. I am a travel professional myself and would never consider having to warn about being a vegetarian in advance up even in more remote parts of the world. Eventually she agreed to serve me stuffed tomatoes but that I was served was stuffed aubergines. I am not a fussy eater so this is perfectly fine but just not the meal that I was offered to begin with. The final aspect that we were disappointed in was that a couple of hours before dinner, we returned to our rooms to get ready for dinner and the water went off. One of my friends had already shampooed her hair when this happened. We rang the reception and they said " wait there, we will look into what's going on and give you a call right back." My friend waited there in her towel with shampoo in her hair for an hour and then we called thee reception and there was no answer, we took it in turns to ring from our 4 rooms and eventually got through. We were told that the other womb of the hotel had water so we could use a treatment room to shower at which point we reminded her that th were 7 of us and so she offered us two treatment rooms and we had to take it in turns. Why couldn't this have been suggested upon first contact and why couldn't they call us back as promised to avoid us waiting around needlessly? We can completely understand that theses things happen but we didn't feel like this was particularly well handled by the staff. Once showered, one of my friends when down to the reception to voice her disappointment once again only yo be told "it's not our fault, it's never happened before." When we checked out and were asked if everything went well we mentioned it one more time and were met with the same response. We spent a lot of money at th hotel (all did treatments, had lunch as well as dinner on site and several drinks at the bar) and felt like the staff fell short, could have been more helpful, accommodating and helpful. We didn't feel valued or appreciated, all things considered. A real shame.
