Room was lovely, bed was really comfortable and staff were helpful. Went to our room on arrival and the room was hot. Fiddled with the controls of what looked like air conditioning and not much seemed to happen. Took a picture of the control box down to reception to find out what i was doing wrong, and was told the hotel doesn't have air con, as Berlin doesn't get hot enough and this was the heat control. Spent Friday night with broken sleep due to the nearby disco (i guess), as we had to leave the window open all night as it was too warm (and this was with no heating). Saturday was better, but still noisy. Last night quieter but would have been more so if we didn't have to leave the window open. Friends whom we travelled with had the same issue, and the added noise being at the front of the hotel, with the passing trams.. Only for these reasons, I wouldn't stay again. Alexanderplatz is good for travel but not the most attractive place. Loved Berlin as first timers, but would personally look at Ku'damm instead. Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, I would have checked the listing, which clearly states air conditioning. However, if you do go -From Tegel airport take the airport bus showing Hbf on the front (- to Hauptbahnhof- the biggest railway station in Berlin). At the last stop get off and wait at that stop for a 245 to Alexanderplatz. Total time for the journey about 40 mins. Enter the Alexanderplatz Square, look for the building with something like 'Fit Fx' in orange on the top. Keeping that on your right, the Indigo is just past it. At night, the sign is lit up and easier to see. Lastly, Berlin is really reasonably priced and great transport system.

This was my 5th stay over the last 5 years but sadly, I don't think I will return. I booked here for the hotel, not just the room. This was my 5th stay over the last 5 years but sadly, I don't think I will return. I booked here for the hotel, not just the room. Sadly, the Hotel Indigo reception, restaurant/bar, gym and all facilities were closed. Instead we checked in through Holiday Inn. A courtesy email to explain lack of public spaces would have softened the blow but this was not received and no explanation given at check-in (presumably due to COVID but I could have saved a lot of money and just booked a regular Holiday Inn if I knew this). The rooms are still great but I used the public spaces and restaurant most. When asking if a restaurant was a available, sadly not. I therefore feel it is time to try a new hotel.

We recently stayed for two night at the Indigo Hotel on Alexanderplatz in Berlin. We have a mixed opinion of the hotel: on the one hand, the design is great, the rooms very nice and quiet, the location convenient. On the other hand, the staff is mediocre. Not polite and not motivated. Two examples: We wanted to store our luggage, there was no staff at the front desk: They were all smoking outside. They saw us, did nothing, and we had to wait until the end of their break. Later that day, when we came back to retrieve our luggage, there was nobody at the front desk and already nine guests in line to check-in. A clerk finally showed up after 15min. Last but not least, even though you pay Indigo prices, you get Holiday Inn service and low-quality breakfast as the dedicated Indigo facilities have not te-opened yet (But you won’t see this indicated on the booking website. IHG must be thinking that bait and switch is acceptable these days). My advice to IHG: If you cannot staff your property with motivated employees, don’t bother opening it. My advice to hotel seekers: Select another property and wait for IHG to improve their offering.
