Alcala its an apartment service not a hotel, with large apartments well equipped for all your needs, buffet style barrack fast is included and apartment cleans and service also included, not much to fault with this place always someone available at their reception, all staff are very happy and willing to help, polite and friendly service at a very reasonable price, located at 15 minutes from the city Centre via taxi at around 12 to 15 bolivianos, 5 min walk to the yellow teleferico with plenty of connections to any direction, food court, pharmacy and grocery shop available next door it’s all there, only thing I’ll suggest is to really advice the staff with any issues you may come across in the apartment but you really don’t need to make a fuss as they do act fast to help you. Enjoy your time if your visiting. We did :)

Location Hotel is located in Supe Kachi area of city, about half way down from El Alto. From airport it takes around 30 minutes & hotel provide taxi at 13USD. The area around hotel is one of the older area’s of the city with cobbled streets. Opposite hotel is a small park & next door is a supermarket for food, pharmacy & an ATM. A block away 3 min walk is the Telefonica cable car of which is the highlight of this city since you can go higher or lower with it. The area in general is safe & quiet, in a middle class residential part of city. Room The one bed apartment of 101 was of decent size. Offering an open plan kitchen with a large dining table, sofa & arm chair. The kitchen consists of a kettle, microwave, an electric oven & stove with a full set of kitchenware & utensils. There is a large fridge with some mini bar item but mostly snacks. For those needing to charge devices, there is plenty of two pin power plug sockets. Amenities include the famous coca tea sachet & bottle of water. Coca tea is defiantly worth trying since the altitude feeling is full-on. The bathroom was of good size and includes a combined bath & shower. It has a jacuzzi function and is very relaxing but it does take a long tine for the bath to fill, since hot water comes out slowly. Bring your own shower products since they only provide a plain soap and a simple shampoo sachet. Towels though are nice and thick. The bedroom is down some steps & is a standard double bed with mattress topper. It’s fairly comfortable with bedside tables each side but did feel quite old including blanket. Facing bed is a TV of which consisted of music channels & sports. I didn’t see any non Spanish language channels. Overall the apartment is fairly dated looking but it was clean & comfortable for the price paid. Facilities The hotel only offers a breakfast buffet but it is fairly terrible. Just some scrambled egg, some breads & cereals with not nice looking meats & no butter for the hard bread rolls. They do have some cakes but wouldn’t decide on this hotel based on the free breakfast, but given the remoteness of the city and altitude, the food in general is not a strong point of La Paz. There used to be a sauna & jacuzzi but when entering this room it is all covered up not in use. WIFI however is free, secure & of acceptable speed. Staff Staff mostly speak basic English & all were quite helpful & friendly. Check-in & out did take a longer than it should, especially the check-in of which I pre-paid but it took longer than it should and had to fill out a full form. The fact that i was very wobbly and dizzy from the shock to body from flying into La Paz from Europe, it was a painful check-in experience of which I nearly wigged out on the floor. Overall the hotel is good for location and for those that want to have self catering. Good value for money is its strong point and location is safe.

A property beginning to show it's need for a number of updates. This is not faulting the property because the people do an amazingly good job. The desk people go beyond call of duty to assist with anything required including ordering food as necessary. There is no restaurant as it is an Apartment Hotel with facilities if so inclined. A corner Mini-Market is close by and there are various food outlets close as well. A tram station is just around the corner and taxi's are always available. Many corporations send people here because the staff are extremely attentive. It is across a small park for your morning walk. We have been here a few times and found the property will be fighting against the many new hotels recently built and those still to come. This is a traditional property and is good for long stays with the apartment size rooms. No complaints.
