We stayed here on our trip to Fernando de Noronha and had no major complaints. The place is quaint and quiet, and although old, the Pousada is very clean and the service provided by the staff, particularly Carla at the front desk, was very courteous. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Dona Josefa, or Zefinha, as she is affectionately called. She built the Pousada with her now late husband about thirty years ago, and still works very hard in her early 90s, even after recently losing her daughter. She told me she always tells her staff to smile and treat everyone well, even if they are crying inside. What a great attitude! We loved every aspect of our stay, breakfast was good with a great selection each day, particularly juices. The only issue we had was the wi-fi... signal was week and would only connect around the lobby area, but not in the rooms.

“Quiet, Very clean, cheap and friendly”

I've stayed at Pousada do Sueste for 4 nights with a friend, in March 2011. We have hired a buggy to visit the whole island, surf in different spots, reach all the nice places and beaches. Every place you choose in the island will be near everything else if you hire a car. The B&B is a short way driving to the airport (two members of Pousada Sueste went to pick us up and took as back on the return day) and Praia do Sueste, where you can spend hours snorkelling together with fishes, turtles and nurse sharks (yes, sharks). You will feel an incredible silence and peace at night. The sky is incredibly clear and the hotel is not busy, so if you are planning a calm and cheap place to stay, go for it. Our room had two separate beds and it was very cleaned and well presented. We have also seen a double bedroom with double mattress and it was similar to ours. The breakfast is very nice and rich in nice fresh fruits. There is free coffee, tea and biscuits between 3pm until 6-7pm. You can book to have lunch or dinner, or ask the staff to ring a cheap take away service ( 3-5 euros, with drink). Staff is always very friendly and helpful. I higly recommend it to those who wish to visit this beautiful island and avoid the very expensive hotels and specialty lodging that are easy to find around.

It sits near baia do sueste beach (calm and shallow waters for the kids) and 8 min away from the village (bus – runs every 30 min). Suitable for families with kids; ok pool and very friendly staff. There is no nearby restaurants but you can order food if you wish; ask the reception to call “Tio João” – each meal costs 20 BRL (very cheap compared with village prices). Do not expect fancy food but it’s a decent option (locals eat there as well). We would recommend buggy rental (220 BRL per day) as it gets easy to explore the island at your own pace. It was a nice stay!

“Summer camp cute with a slice of tropical”

Something about this hotel takes me straight back to summers spent in Cape Cod as a kid. Only with papaya trees and tropical flowers. And comfier beds. And fewer, if any, children. The sea views are pretty, and the national park/airport is within walking distance, although people are pretty friendly and tend to insist you let them give you a lift on the way back down. You won't forget that you're on a Brazilian island when you step into the breakfast room- it's pretty adorable and they serve good food and good coffee. Service/food in the hotels across the road are exceptional so don't worry about the lack of in house restaurant. It's also not far in a cab to flamboyant square if you start to miss the buzz of real life. A great place to stay if your looking for some Brazilian island authenticity and a bit of peace and quiet.
