I traveled with my pregnant wife on a sort of delayed honeymoon because we got married in September and were unable to travel before. Despite having requested beforehand through our travel agency for a room on the first floor due to the pregnancy ("grávida" in portuguese, for anyone in this situation) we were accommodated in a room following 3 (rather large) sets of stairs. Once we learned of that situation, we asked if we could be moved whenever there was another room available downstairs, but we never were. Apparently, it was our gain anyway, because the rooms in that area are supposed to be better than the others, and we did have very good mattresses (yes, plural, despite being a married couple we had two twin beds instead of a double, but rather than complaining I joined them and the second day the room service had placed sheets for a double bed). The view from the little deck was also very nice, having a direct line of sight to the sea in Joao Fernandez beach, which was very close (about 2 blocks away). The lady in the front desk in the afternoon was always very nice and helpful, the one in the morning wasn't so friendly, but did her job. Free wi-fi internet didn't always work, but we did have in the little deck outside our room. The breakfast buffet and the tea provided at 5pm are the second best thing about this hotel, only behind its location. Very safe area (and city in general, actually) only about 10-15 minutes walking from downtown and Rua das Pedras. It's about 4 blocks away from the farthest van service dropout point, which you can take to any beach or area in the city for only 2,50 reales and it's the best way to move around if you don't have a car, or even if you do have one, because you don't worry about parking.

“Good location...not the friendliest people”

The location is great, very near the beach, Praia Joao Fernandes.And it´s three blocks from the bus stop that takes you downtown or to other beaches. But,this place isn´t good for old people, too many steep stairs! The pool is very nice! Rooms are ok. The problem is the staff: not helpful, not nice… more

The location is great, very near the beach, Praia Joao Fernandes.And it´s three blocks from the bus stop that takes you downtown or to other beaches. But,this place isn´t good for old people, too many steep stairs! The pool is very nice! Rooms are ok. The problem is the staff: not helpful, not nice! Breakfast is good and they serve a "courtesy" snack in the afternoon. Funny, they serve only coffee, you can´t ask for milk!
