This hotel fulfilled all our requisites. Rooms were spotlessly clean, the air conditioning worked really well (a necessity, since the area is very hot -- we got 38C during the day in April, and nights were quite stuffy) and the solar-powered shower was good. And for foreigners, there are only public channels in Portuguese (TVs in every room, however, and empty mini-fridges as well). We were never told if the hotel had wifi. We stayed for 2 nights. The first one was quite peaceful, as the hotel was nearly empty. The second night (Saturday), not so much. Most of the hotels in Olimpia cater to visitors to the thermal park (we went nowhere near them), a tourist attraction that can hold 15,000 bathers at a time, and this one was no exception: a full tour bus and other groups of guests had arrived by the time we returned from our birding and dinner. My room was at the end of the corridor, right beside the wall and door that separates apartments from the leisure area -- games room and pools. Kids shrieking until after 10pm and so on, people coming and going, speaking loudly and banging that aluminum door were my background noise. Considering I'd woken up at 5:30am that day and would wake up at the same hour on Sunday, this wasn't so pleasant. Breakfast was generous, typically Brazilian -- too many sweets --, but the coffee was decent. They serve a late lunch (open at 2pm, since during the day most guests are at the thermal park) and dinner (until 9pm. When the hotel is fuller, it is a buffet). We ate there when we arrived; fare was simple, a bit unimaginative and inexpensive. There is basically no real personality to the place. A charming B&B or a rustic rural hotel it is not. It's the sort of blocky architecture you'd see in a public building, impersonal and to the point both inside and out.
