“A quiet and remote property in Paraty”

This hotel has magestic views over looking the ocean and the beach is calm and quiet. The staff is friendly. I would recommend this hotel for anyone for a quick stay as the rooms are small but the beach and views make it worth it.

Charming place, that immerges you into nature. The staff is friendly and arranging, the food is good, and the view is of an other world. I would live there if I could. Many thanks to the whole team, and especially the chef who has cooked some amazing vegan dinners and breakfats

My wife and I stayed at Casa Luz for our honeymoon recently and really loved it. In general, we would stay here again. The primary thing we loved about the hotel is its unique environment. It's a beautiful boutique hotel around 10 min drive from downtown Paraty. The hotel has incredible views of the ocean and surrounding mountains and hills. There is forest surrounding the hotel with wildlife like birds, monkeys etc. The grounds of the hotel include a delicious restaurant with great cocktails and a nice spa / relaxation area. The seating for the restaurant offers panoramic views of the ocean and mountains. Great place to relax. And finally, it has a private beach with water safe for swimming and items such paddle boards for activities. It was nice to not stay in downtown Paraty - it was easy enough to get a taxi back and forth when necessary and we enjoyed staying in a calmer, more relaxed place. The staff at the hotel are very nice and accommodating. We do not speak Portugese but we communicated with the staff in person when someone who spoke English was available (about 1/2 to 3/4 the time), and otherwise via Whats App which was easy. They helped us book an awesome, day-long private boat ride with a man named Felipe. This was a highlight of our trip and we definitely recommend it to other visitors, specifically with Felipe. We booked the Azul room which has the same spectacular view and it was so relaxing to come back to our room and sit on the balcony watching and hearing the ocean. The Azul room is worth it due the great views, spacious bathroom but a few things to note - 1. it's a little small, 2. does not have a closet or area to unpack if that is needed, and 3. it has a bath tub, but no walk in option which may be difficult for some people. Another thing to note is that the hotel is situated basically on the hill side. There is a pretty steep cobblestone driveway that leads from the road to the hotel parking lot and then the hotel parking lot is located above the hotel via a set of stairs. I mention this because one time, our driver was not able to drive down the driveway because of rain and so we walked down the driveway. It's not a difficult walk, but people with limited mobility may have difficulty accessing the hotel. If you are driving your own car, be sure that you can drive up a steep hill if you are driving a manual.

We had a great time at Casa Luz, the rooms were of a high quality and the staff we so attentive and helpful. Only given 4 stars as the car park could be improved (very steep/narrow slope), and the restaurant seems to be on the pricey side for dinner with high end options and could offer more dishes… more
