The Midas Rio Convention Suites offers apartments in a five minute walk from the Riocentro. The apartment is spacious and well furnished. The bathroom has a sink, hair dryer, toilet and a spacious shower. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool with pool bar and lifeguard. The staff is friendly and there is a taxi service arrangement with the Hotel (although slightly more expensive than yellow cabs). Breakfast is varied and includes tropical fruit, jam, bacon, cheese, omelet, bread, tropical fruit juices, pastries, coffee, tea, etc. This hotel may be a good choice for those who must travel to Riocentro, or who wants to take a vacation in the Barra area.

This hotel was comfortable enough with large rooms and a good breakfast. I managed to get a good rate on a room through TripAdvisor-linked website, so I have no regrets about staying there, but I did have some issues. The internet was not working for the first 24 hours; I actually thought it was a plot to get me to pay for faster internet (you can purchase faster speed internet or use the slower free service), but the slow speed free service was fine once it was fixed, although Wi-Fi reception could be erratic. When I arrived, quite late at night, I was allocated a room that had not been cleaned. I was given another room, but the front desk did not change it on the system so that when I went to get my breakfast voucher in the morning (they insist on issuing these each morning rather than giving you all the vouchers for the stay on check-in) they could not find me on the computer. That got sorted out but they still did not correct the problem and a couple of hours later a very surprised new guest entered the room to find me there (fortunately fully dressed) - she had been allocated my room! My last quibble is that despite there being a kitchenette in the room there were no complimentary tea/coffee provisions and no kettle (I used the microwave).

We stayed here for 2 weeks during Paralympics I order that we were local to RioCentro. It was an excellent location for this. We stayed here for 2 weeks during Paralympics I order that we were local to RioCentro. It was an excellent location for this. Obviously the hotel was full due to the games, however the reception was very bare-nothing welcoming for the games at all, the reception staff unwelcoming-never once offered a 'Good Morning' in any language. NO early check in. The rooms however were excellent. Great shower with plenty of Hot water. Air conditioning in living area and bedroom. Safe in wardrobe and large fridge/mini bar. The housekeeping was variable-some days no service at all-other days just changed towels. Breakfast was good variety. Usual continental but with 3 or 4 hot options too. Only problem was they could not cope with the large number of guests-only one flask of poor standard coffee! The pool area was clean and pleasant, however the pool bar was not open even though there was a member of staff there constantly! They did not even sell water! There are no bar or restaurant facilities on site, however the adjoining shopping precinct has several eating & drinking establishments. As a hotel inspector I would not rate this as 4* due to poor customer service.

Nothing special, but if you need to go to Rede Globo or Record Studios it is not too far. It is also near the Olympic Park. The mattress was a bit too hard in my opinion and the windows are bad, so it is noisy at night (there is an avenue nearby and people, mainly motrcycle drivers, drive like craz… more

Nothing special, but if you need to go to Rede Globo or Record Studios it is not too far. It is also near the Olympic Park. The mattress was a bit too hard in my opinion and the windows are bad, so it is noisy at night (there is an avenue nearby and people, mainly motrcycle drivers, drive like crazy!). Breakfast was good, but nothing special. I did like the cheese bread, though (but coffee was bad!).
