We spent 4 nights in the Confiance Residence in Curitiba. The walls in the rooms are tiled up to the ceiling, while the floors, countertops, and nightstand tops are polished granite. These materials would cost a fortune in the U.S.A. We actually paid about $50 a night for a room with a king bed and a single, three ample storage areas, a safe, a tv with a few channels in English, and a kitchenette. Strangely, the kitchenette had no dishes or cutlery, although it was furnished with a sink and refrigerator, a sink, and ample counter space. The hotel is in an area that has plenty of restaurants and stores, as well as laundromats where you can drop off your laundry and have it back it 24 hours. We even found a store called Walmart Brazil, which is a grocery store. Our stay included breakfast, which featured the typical meats, cheeses, breads, cakes, cereal, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, tea, eggs and sausage. The staff does not speak English, but we were able to engage in trilingual conversations (their Portuguese, my Spanish and a bit of Portuguese, a few words of English) and take care of whatever was needed. The staff was always courteous and willing to be helpful, regardless of the communication challenges. We found the hotel to be quiet and well-run, and we were comfortable throughout our stay.
