I wish all my hotels in Brazil were this nice! A perfect 10 all around and the right place to lay my head after many flight delays getting to Brazil

the hotel was lovely and a good option in foz do iguaçu. it’s located next to a mall, which meant there were plenty of food options nearby, as well as a grocery store and laundromat. the complimentary breakfast was nice, with the made-to-order tapioca crepe being a must-try. the reason i gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the staff and some of their processes. the staff were quite slow-paced, and it took over an hour to check in four people. our group could see others experiencing a similar issue with check-in. additionally, bottled water was brought to our room without any clarification as to whether it was complimentary or chargeable. upon checkout, we discovered a $10 USD charge. the cost itself wasn’t the issue. rather, it was the lack of transparency. this all may have been due to a language barrier, but it’s something to be wary of if you choose to stay here. overall, the hotel was nice, but i would likely try a different option next time i’m in foz do iguaçu.

My experience at this property was generally positive, with a couple of very important caveats. The positives? The hotel itself is very nice. Those that look for chips in the paint or other defects will find them. However, my room is nice, clean and there’s really very little I can say negative about it. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is right across from a shopping mall, which has everything from ATMs and self-service laundry to restaurants and shops. We went to the shopping mall a number of times to pick up needed items. The drawbacks? The check-in process was a complete mess. We checked in early, which I would’ve thought would have meant that we would have a streamlined check in process later. That was not the case. As part of checking in, my sister accidentally elected to pay in US dollars, so-called dynamic currency conversion. This is legalized robbery. The hotel charged a fee of 12% to bill in US dollars instead of Brazilian reals. Once my sister realized what had occurred she became quite upset and in my view understandably so. I asked to see the manager who told me that the hotel does not get any of the fee from this dynamic currency conversion. Of course that is false. If that were the case, why would the hotel offer this “service”? It certainly is not a service to the customer to charge 12% for a foreign exchange fee. In any case, the hotel said that they reverse the transaction and I do hope that this is the case. Leaving the foreign exchange issue aside is still fair to say the check-in was a very slow process and likely needlessly so. So if you can get beyond the check-in and also avoid being charged in your local currency rather than Brazilian currency, I can recommend this hotel. However, I would certainly keep an eye out for that currency conversion issue and perhaps not expect a smooth check-in experience.
