“Decent hotel, good price.”

I stayed in Hotel Embaixador for several days during a business trip. The location is not far from the university. It's a somewhat seedy section of town, although to be honest, in driving around the center of Porto Alegre I didn't see much that wasn't seedy. The hotel itself is nice. The front desk staff had some difficulty in English; they could check me in, for example, but could not understand my question about laundry. But a quick call to the manager on duty solved the communication problem; there's always one whose English is solid. In fact, the manager was exceptionally helpful and gave me his personal cell in case I had questions or needed assistance while out in the city. Since it was winter, the hotel was far from packed and the restaurant at night had few people. The food was reasonably good although communicating with the waiter was through pointing and hand gestures. The room I had was large and clean, albeit a bit spartan. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is a grocery store two blocks away in case you want to stock your mini-bar.

A traditional hotel in a good spot in the CBD of Porto Alegre. Considered a luxurious option when opened, it is now a more local independent hotel, with good spacious rooms, sensible prices and a good breakfast. Considered a luxurious option when opened, it is now a more local independent hotel, with good spacious rooms, sensible prices and a good breakfast. Wifi included, but depending on your room signal can be tricky. ( Strong in the common areas though ). Friendly staff.

“Very good hotel in excelent location”

I stayed a couple of days at this hotel. the staff was very friendly and very helpful. you can see the hotel has a lot of history but that's part of the charm. I stayed a couple of days at this hotel. the staff was very friendly and very helpful. you can see the hotel has a lot of history but that's part of the charm. Not part of the charm were the high level of noise of stuff like A/C or refrigerator (I just had to turn it off..). Very good breakfast with lots of fruits, good restaurant, wide selection of wines, gym and of course excelent location. Wifi also working well. It was kind of time travel!

I stayed there during the Football World Cup so as you can imagine finding good hotel for decent price wasn't easy. In general I had a good stay. Staff were helpful and easy to communicate with. Breakfast was included and it was plenty to choose from. The biggest problem was lack of decent WIFI at times not existent. Forget the Skype etc as they even block your outgoing emails. I probably wouldn't come back to stay there again.
