Clean. Friendly. Nice rooms. Let me start by saying that this place isn’t the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok. It is however a whole lot cheaper and very very good value for money. Our room was big and clean. The breakfast was basic but good enough. The staff arranged guides and drivers for our tours of the temples who were all good. It’s not a party hotel. Walking distance from Pub Street but it’s a reasonable walk and as that meant we couldn’t hear pub street, we were happy. Our pickup from the airport was prompt and helpful. It was a Tuk Tuk but that added to the charm. My only complaint would be that the pool was cold. My girlfriend told me to stop whinging and get over it. She was right. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are sporty so not good for anyone not so mobile. We would stay again happily.

I was looking for a quiet and serene place for my 4-night stay in Siem Reap and this place hit the spot. It is NOT that close to the town center, so if you like to be in the middle of everything, this may not be the best option. You can walk to Pub Street in 15 minutes though or take a tuk-tuk (but have the address or location on your phone ready). The hotel was hard to find, actually. I was coming from another town by taxi and the taxi driver couldn't find it even though he was on the phone with the reception. But once you find it, it is such a lovely place (not a luxury hotel, but for the price it did feel like a luxury). The room was the biggest I had on this trip, it was more like an apartment and very boutique-like. A welcoming bowl with fruit was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and you order from the menu (I do not like meat, so was getting fish soup-porridge most of the mornings). The pool was very relaxing and again, one of the best ones on the trip, although once the sun is gone, mosquitoes may become an issue (I would also have occasional mosquitoes in the room - wasn't much of a deal for me though). It looked like the hotel was brand new and the staff may need to acquire more experience, but they were all super nice and polite. I did not have any issues while staying there. Hot water, solid air-conditioning, clean. Robes and slippers provided. Would stay here again. Also, since it's not in the touristy center of Siem Reap, there are plenty of small, local-type eateries around. I went to Flavors of India one night and it completely changed my attitude towards Indian cuisine (which I did not appreciate before). There is a mosque nearby, but I had not problems with calls to prayer (as a matter of fact, I did not even realize there was one until the 2nd or 3rd day of my stay).

Price is quite low for this lovely small quirky little hotel of only 7 rooms. It IS a "unique residence" just a couple of km from the night market, and with an excellent French Restaurant (L'Annexe) nearby. On the positive side: our room upstairs had a 'green' view out 3 windows on one face and one window on a second face. The color scheme and building materials were simple, clean and elegant and air conditioning was efficient, and the shower worked perfectly. A tiny balcony was available. Everything was spotless. Breakfast is included. Laundry returns the same day. Staff is attentive and helpful, and some staff are very secure in English. On the negative side: the location is VERY VERY hard for drivers and tuktuks to find the first time. Some hotel staff are a bit naive and easily lost; but with additional training they will all improve. Too much tasteless white-bread toast given and wasted at breakfasts, and too much garnishing of omelettes with catsup. Bar currently closes very early in the evening. Innumerable 2" -3" level changes in the rooms and public areas invite tumbles, so be careful!

Reading all the past reviews, I was excited to find this gem. It wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, but it wasn't bad. Here are the things to notice if you stay here: Room location request: Upstairs is way better. AND upstairs facing pool is bigger than upstairs facing construction (or non-pool view). The rooms are really nice, and each one is a bit different. My party had 4 rooms, and the one downstairs was smaller and darker. There are only 2 floors here. Stairs and steps: The only bad thing is if you come home drunk from Pub Street, walking upstairs on their stairways is really dangerous. They don't light it really late or consistently. I was there 2 nights and sometimes it was on and sometimes off, and it's one of those stairs that float. Also, there are some steps that are like flat pieces of rock you walk on between smaller rocks which you don't walk on. This is not a place for wheelchair users or those who have problems with stairs. Although you could potentially get a room downstairs, there are still steps here and there to go up one step to dining area, one step here to go to reception etc. The room itself: WAS AMAZING, it's well decorated and very boutique. Very instagrammable in every corner for those that look for that. There were step ups here and there throughout the room. Only thing was I woke up to find a trail of ants on the nightstand surrounding my phone and....to my pillow...the one my head was on. I did take a picture and video to show the reception, which looked at it and smiled at me like they weren't really concerned. There is a mosque nearby which has a 6am wake up, but it wasn't super loud. Pool: the pool is not large but neither is the hotel. There is a bar that isn't open. There are 4 lounge chairs which get no sun, but it was nice to jump into a cool pool after a day trekking Angkor Wat. We picked up some beers and chips from a convenience store before returning back here. You can't really swim once dusk sets in as there are many plants surrounding it, thus many bugs including mosquitoes. Breakfast: It's made to order which is nice. What's not nice is if you are right after another group because they make the items one by one. So it took forever when there were 2 people ahead of me. It comes with a basket of bread and some fruit to wait. Location: It's actually not next to anything. It's not just a corner, it's around approximately 2 corners, so walking there in the dark is a bit dangerous although it's lightly lit. Even though on the map it doesn't look too far from Pub Street, it is!!!! Exploring around the area on foot also didn't come up with much. You must just enjoy the hotel. They can call you tuk tuks, and give you a flat price. But on your way back, make sure you get the price down before getting on. Airport Pick up: We had an airport pick up that came with our room. The hotel emailed us and confirmed our pick up. When we arrived, we could not find anyone with my name on the holder. We even asked everyone holding a holder. It's a small airport. Finally, after 15 minutes we turned on the roaming to call the hotel. They weren't even surprised. They said oh yeah, the guy is running late. We wait another 15 mins and call again. The reception then said, can you get a taxi and we will pay for it when you arrive. It's really to get a taxi, and it has a flat fee of I think $10-13 I forget. The hotel did pay me back promptly, but the lack of communication was not cool. We find out later that the driver was out doing something else and had no intention of picking us up, so an email to us earlier or even when we first called would've been nice. We didn't get anything extra other than an apology. Overall, I would not stay here again due to it's location being hard for tuk tuk drivers to find as it's not well known, the lack of empathy for any problems they caused, the slowness of breakfast, the amount of steps to find in the dark, and the mosquito population in the downstairs entry way. However, this place is not bad. It's actually very cute. The room was the best part of it, but I wasn't planning on spending my entire day in it.
