“Oldie but good for the price”

I com there every year. Its a little cheaper but it does what we need. Good sheets and beds are comfy. The front desk was always very helpful. We will continue to come back every year. Hope theyre new remodel doesnt make them to expensive!

Here is my review I originally posted on another site, but I'm sharing it here: I stayed at the Inns of Banff from Wednesday, 12/11/2019 - Monday, 12/16/2019. I originally made reservations to stay at Bumpers Inn, which is across the street from it. I made my reservation months ahead of time (near the end of April 2019) for my December vacation. However, sometime in September, I got a message from Bumpers Inn saying their hotel would be undergoing renovation in December and that I could stay at the Inns of Banff for the same price. I believe these two hotels are owned by the same company. I agreed to the offer and the reservation was set. I paid a total of $683.78 Canadian dollars for my stay (that amounted to roughly $514.77 US dollars). That's a very good deal for lodging in Banff. When my airport shuttle arrived, I learned that the Inns of Banff could very well be called "The End of Banff" because it's one of the last things you'll see before you hit the highway. It's on the edge of town, but that's not really a problem. It only takes about 10-15 minutes of walking straight down Banff Avenue to get downtown. And it only took me that long because I was walking slow on the icy sidewalks. But if you don't feel like walking, Banff does have a bus transit system. There was also some construction going on at the Inns of Banff. Because of that, my shuttle had to go up a hill and put me out at the back of the main building. I entered on the 3rd floor, then rode the elevator down to the 1st floor so I could check in. Everything was well-organized about the check in process. I was given a card key for my room (room 413), the Wi-Fi code, restaurant coupons, a map of the town, and they even gave me a free transit bus pass. There was a $200 incidental fee charged to my card upon check in (about $153.32 when translated to US dollars). The hotel looked older but was still clean. There were Christmas decorations around the back entrance. On the 1st floor, there are vending machines that takes cash/credit cards. There's a small business center (with one computer & printer) and a microwave near it that anyone in the hotel can use. On that same floor are a couple of restaurants and a small gift shop. There's also an indoor swimming pool. I was satisfied with my room. It was more than enough space for me, it was clean, and was already warm upon entrance. There were two beds in my room and the one I slept in was very comfortable. There was a small refrigerator, iron/ironing board, and a large television. I'm not sure how many stations it had but that Sunday I was able to watch as many NFL football games as I would if I was still in the States. They even had the WGN station from Chicago. The dresser that the tv was on top of had some scratches on it, but that was okay. The restroom (or washroom, as they say in Canada) was clean too. The small balcony patio was a solid sheet of ice. I had to hold onto the edge of the balcony to keep from slipping. But that's understandable. Who's going to want to hang out on the balcony during a Canadian December? I just went out there for a minute to see what it's like. The hotel was quiet while I was there. Most days I didn't see housekeeping because I went on daily excursions but I would always return later in the afternoon to a neatly made up room complete with fresh bed sheets and new towels. The employees were all pleasant. One of the front desk clerks even offered to give me a cup of the coffee he was brewing. Here were a few things that brought my rating down to an average three: 1) My room was billed as having a nice mountain view but most of my view was obstructed by another Inns of Banff hotel building directly in front of mine. But this wasn't a big deal. 2) In order to close the door of the elevator, I had to keep my finger pressed on the button of the floor I'm going to until the door shut all the way. Without doing that, the door would just open right back up. 3) The hotel has 3 restaurants on the property (The Bear's Den, Wildfire Grill, and Japanese Restaurant MIKI). Unfortunately, when they were open, it was only on Friday & Saturday. I don't believe the Japanese restaurant opened at all. 4) The gift shop was also only open on Friday & Saturday. There were some nice things there like sweaters, sweatshirts, Canadian cookies, etc. But the only postcards they had were ones that were already stamped for mailing and cost nearly $4 each. 5) Sometimes exiting the building at the back of the 3rd floor was a hassle, mainly because the hill you had to go down could get icy & slick. I discovered a way to exit through a restaurant on the 1st floor, but sometimes they'd have that door locked. The construction going on outside was the reason given for the restaurants and gift shop being open only on Friday & Saturday, so maybe it'll be different when they finish everything. Either way, I'd stay here again. It's alright. I'm rating it three stars.
