Otter Hotel

“Recommend with many amenities like large hot tub area with patio furniture and gas fire pits, gym and quiet lounge areas”

Special overnight trip to Canmore/Banff area for my Birthday. Booked a king with mtn view and dinner reservations at their Good Folk restaurant.

Pros: Heated parking garage, bus stop right outside, they gave us weekend bus passes for free, the hot tubs were lovely and had an amazing view, nice shower and soaps, $30 pet fee comes with a bed, waste bags, bowls (some others had treats and toys). Cons: Room was an awkward layout, TV can’t face the bed, kitchen is just a sink and a 2’x2’ Fridge, no cutlery, no microwave, nowhere to put suitcases, no fan in the bathroom, conditioner was empty, mattress was hard, as mentioned in other reviews the air system is horrendous. It’s completely in line with the bed, about 2ft from your face on the left side and no way to close or re direct the vent, had cold/hot air blowing at my face all night and it is insanely loud on start up, no tub (fine for us but if you have kids who need a bath), advertised as dog friendly but there was no place to take the pup to go pee. Had to go across the street to other accommodations to use their grass, here is a restaurant inside but the prices are crazy and we didn’t end up trying it, we were surprised to find the doors to the parking garage unlocked at all hours of the night/day which was interesting. It did have a place to access with the card but was not necessary. It was fine, definitely have stayed in much better in Banff. Advertised as a luxury hotel, so I did have higher expectations. Should have been better for the price for sure.

Hotel location was nice and they give you bus pass which is a bonus as parking is difficult. Parking is also free and garage is heated. First day front desk was very welcoming and gave us good suggestions but other front desk staff were not super friendly. Housekeeping is not the best quality. They do minimal work and one day , our room was skipped because we were not out in the morning. We had to ask multiple times to at least take the garbage. The room ….. not functional, I got really sick because the heating system is very bad. Very loud noise, blowing hot air on my bed directly then reached the temperature and blowing cold air. Even if we turn it off , the noise does not go away. I have sore throat and congestion that ruined my beautiful vacation. I would suggest more hangers and more hooks. There is no closet in the room . Downstairs washroom no hooks to put my purse or coat , only on the floor. I loved the shower, washroom should have a closer mirror , I had difficulty to put my contacts in .
