The Calgary Downtown Marriott Hotel is everything you’d expect from a busy downtown hotel. Great location within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Bustling lobby and hotel bar mainly packed with business and convention guests. Standard king sized hotel room equipped with a seating area and functional desk to plug in a laptop. Elevators running up and down all the time.with guests. The hotel serves its purpose.

“Disappointing for a Marriott”

We booked a King Club Room 2121 for 7 nights. The room is large with a walk-in robe, ironing board, iron and plenty of coat hangers. We booked a King Club Room 2121 for 7 nights. The room is large with a walk-in robe, ironing board, iron and plenty of coat hangers. A bathroom to your left with a large walk-in shower that has sliding 2 ways. The water is very hot and there is a lever to increase or decrease the pressure. A single vanity with plenty of bench space to put your toiletries. A magnifying mirror, hairdryer and toilet. A corner couch, full length mirror and portable luggage rack. Tea & Coffee station with ice bucket and empty bar fridge. There is no bottle water, but a water station on each floor to refill. The safe is just above the fridge hidden by a pull down door. Joinery along one side of the wall that encases a desk, a couple of drawers, shelf and another luggage space. We found the bed to be just ok and the pillows were not good at all. There are plenty of lamps, lighting is good. Blinds on the window with the block out blind in a track to block out any light. The windows are partially doubles glazed, with a section on the lower part of the window that slides open that has weeping holes that will let in noise. Being on the 21st floor, I would have thought we would have no noise, it was like sleeping out the street, you could hear everything. The air conditioning works well but he fan is very noisy. The door has a seal but does not do a very good job as you can seal light under it. Housekeeping could be better as the beds was not made very well with the fitted sheet on on the mattress properly. The shower grout needs a good scrub. The carpet in the room is looking a bit tired. Towels need replacing as they were very thin. We ate breakfast in the club on the second floor where you need you room key to gain entry. There was juice, water, tea & coffee. Fruit, cheese, cold meat, cereals in boxes, scrambled eggs, bacon – these items were the same every day. There was also some other hot foods, potatoes, frittata, vegetables, these alternated on days. The staff in the club were very nice. Some of the chairs need replacing as you sink right down into them, which makes the tables too high. Evening canapés - there is a cheese & cold meats (only a couple), usually some type of salad, chicken slider, samosas. It does change nightly, so it can be anything. Alcohol is not free, you must pay for it. The stay was ok, I would not stay here again.
