I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown for one week. I have been on business trip and had one weekend for seeing & visiting Calgary. The Hotel has a great location, right in the Heart of Calgary, and walking distance to all City attractions. I have booked a room for one Person, the room was large in size, with a fantastic view to the courthouse park. The staff at the hotel were super friendly and gave to me great recommendations for concerts and things to do. The breakfast I enjoyed very much, and I would like to thank the entire team for a great stay at the hotel.

“Comfort in downtown Calgary”

The hotel appears modern or recently renovated inside. The king bed room with a sofa bed was comfortable, and a fridge, coffeemaker, and safe were included. The bathroom was nice with a good shower. The hotel appears modern or recently renovated inside. The king bed room with a sofa bed was comfortable, and a fridge, coffeemaker, and safe were included. The bathroom was nice with a good shower. The gym is well equipped, as well. The only problem was that the sofa did not seem cleaned well, as there were crumbs/debris and a stain. (It wasn't fully cleaned even after I brought this to the front desk's attention.) The location is central and close to a CTrain stop.

“Modern Hotel Vibe But Lacking in Hospitality”

I had little expectations to be honest knowing it is a select brand. But I was happy to see it looked nice. The hotel had a modern vibe but the service at the desk is subpar. I had little expectations to be honest knowing it is a select brand. But I was happy to see it looked nice. The hotel had a modern vibe but the service at the desk is subpar. Front desk agents don’t have a welcoming vibe, nonchalant almost. You know when you feel welcome, you just get that feeling? Here you don’t. It seems like they don’t like their job. Why stay in hospitality then? Anyway, valet and the restaurant server were so much more hospitable than those at the desk. I asked the agent upon check in if there were room slippers. She said no. But she immediately said “but we do have bath towels…” and named other amenities that’s available in the room. I think she is forgetting that she works for a Marriott property. When did a Marriott property ever not have bath towels? Also calling them from the room to have Valet get the car ready is so annoying. They answer after a lot of rings, sometimes you have to call twice or thrice before they pick up. Also upon checkout, the front desk agent said the receipt will be emailed within the day. Guess what? It’s over 24 hrs. And I still don’t have it. I called the hotel before writing this review, neither billing nor front desk picked up. Also, the shower area is not thoroughly cleaned by the way. You know how the grout turns pink after more than a week of not scrubbing? That’s how it was in our shower area.
