We stayed here while skiing in Banff. It’s a ways away from the ski areas, but the price can’t be beat. The suite is well equipped and very clean. You can check in without seeing anyone because you are given a code to let yourself in... No hot tub to soak in after a day of skiing but it’s an easy location to get to Sunshine, and Lake Louise located right on the number 1 highway. The noise of the highway is evident but you’re usually pretty tired after a day of skiing☺️

When I stepped in the condo, my initial impression was that we have been involuntarily mislead by a marketing approach by Steve and Tina. We though that the simply minimized the noise (you have to keep the windows shut if you want to have a conversation: beware and bring ear plug if it’s hot since the condo get’s really hot and you’ll want to have the windows open at least for the night) and embellished the actual views (if you crawl on the floor, you may have the same view that the pictures shows, but the table views are actually a big ugly motel parking by the big Trans-Canada Highway… But sadly, it is with the feeling of being boldly lied to by these hosts, Steve and Tina, that I am now writing this review. If it were not for their lies and promises not honored, I would have given a 3 ½ stars (like Trip Advisor and Google average: for better reviews than theses under Airbnb, search “Yamnuska Suites, Dead Man's Flats”). Like most reviewers, I acknowledge that it was mostly clean and very conveniently by the highway and near Banff and Lake Louise (25 min / 60 min respectively). That concludes my general appreciation of the condo, for my personal experience, if you are interested, read on. We had a reservation for 8 days, worth roughly 1,200$ for a romantic gateway for our 10th wedding anniversary. When we stepped in the condo, even before unpacking, we realised we have been misled, and we did not want to spend our entire week there. The promised “picturesque” and “serene” mountain town” as described in their post, was indeed a simple and convenient base camp, but forget about great views and serenity. Has for the “This building is located right next to the highway, but you should not be able to hear it”, this is a plain lie, maybe in colder months with all windows shut, it could be acceptable, but I live in Montreal and this place is worse: not knowing the area, I figured that “this serene mountain town” was by a secondary Highway, maybe in the Kananaskis, but the Trans-Can is the real Highway: Motorcycles, Pick-ups, Fifth Wheels are passing all night long and there is no serenity there. We called them, explaining how we were never expecting the context and location, and said we would move by the next day. The 1st answer was: “please leave us a good review”. By then, I just though that the pushed too hard on the marketing and were truly surprised that we did not like the location. At any rate, they did say that they would give me a partial reimbursement, telling me that I was not entitled to receive any, but they wanted to accommodate me. I said that I did appreciate their good will. So, they asked me to cancel my reservation rather than simply change the date, leaving them with more flexibility to refund my, so they said. But in fact, once I canceled my reservation, they did rebook every single night, cashing in all my 1,200$, but now also the news guest’s money (Airbnb calendar allowed me to verify the rebooking). But they never reimbursed my, nor even contacted me to let me know that they had the amount secured for me. When I tried to follow-up, they insisted once again that I wasn’t entitled to received any amount, but that, in 14 days, (conveniently just AFTER my review window would have expired) they would be able to give me more details. So that is how I concluded that they only wanted to lure me into a good review with promises that, like their misleading post and pictures, their knew they would not honor. I am not a basher, nor a hater, I do not usually give any bad feedback, believing most host try their best, but this is my very honest point of view.

“Not Bad”

Suites are as you see in the pictures. Not a bad place. They have all the amenities with utensils (pots, pans, spoons, etc) to cook nice meals. Suites are as you see in the pictures. Not a bad place. They have all the amenities with utensils (pots, pans, spoons, etc) to cook nice meals. It’s located right next to a gas station, which is convenient. There is obviously noise as the hotel is next to the highway but it didn’t bother us much. The suites were clean for the price that we paid. The towels had a funny smell though. The hotel is close to both Canmore and Banff. I’d most likely stay here again.
