My husband and I were really impressed with the entire experience at the Coast Bastion. Everyone was friendly and helpful and responded immediately when we needed more Kleenex and help with the TV. Our room was large and well equipped with a beautiful view of the ocean and mountains.The hotel was recently renovated so everything was new and modern. The bathroom was a good size and beautifully equipped. The towels were plentiful and there were oversized bath towels as well. There were lots of towel racks to hang up our towels so they could dry and daily replacement was not necessary. The shower/tub was equipped with grab bars and the soap/ shampoo products were excellent and large volume containers. There was a magnifying mirror as well. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows excellent. It was a bonus to have an excellent restaurant available in the hotel as well. All in all our stay could not be improved upon. Thank you to everyone that made it special.

“Delightful stay overlooking the harbour”

Delightful stay. We had a room on the 8th floor which afforded a lovely view across the harbour. Staff super friendly, beautifully finished rooms, comfortable beds, great location. Thoroughly recommend.

We just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We booked last minute so our request for a wheelchair accessible room could not be accommodated (our own fault!), however we can manage if needed in a regular room in a pinch so still booked. We were given a huge corner room on the 6th floor and we were delighted to see on arrival that they had put a temporary/portable safety bar on the edge of the tub and also had a bath chair set up in the tub. We had not asked for these so it was a very helpful and nice touch. The room also looked updated with laminate flooring and modern paint and decor. The view was stunning as we were in a corner suite with windows all around. We were also pleasantly surprised to see that there is a wheelchair lift right beside the main stairs to the hotel restaurant which staff was always available to help us with. There is a long incline inside the hotel to get from the elevators to the parking garage which is a tad steep but manageable for us with a manual wheelchair and strong arms (might be more difficult for some people though). The streets around the hotel are very hilly (obviously not the hotel's fault) so we did drive to a few places that were within very short walking distance. The area was absolutely worth getting out and seeing the surroundings, particularly the flat waterfront walkway just in front of the hotel which has a couple of decent pubs right on the water and also the downtown area with tons of shops and restaurants a few blocks up. We would stay here again - thank you to the staff for all you did to assist us.

“Warm welcome but areas to improve”

We booked this hotel for a stopover after a long day of travelling prior to boarding the ferry. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome from the front desk. We booked this hotel for a stopover after a long day of travelling prior to boarding the ferry. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome from the front desk. There three ladies were so friendly and instantly made me feel at ease, including explaining how the rooms we had booked were beautiful. They even allowed the children to select a small treat. The room itself had a beautiful view over the harbour. Lots of natural light and very spacious. There are signs around the hotel saying that the rooms have been renovated. Unfortunately, the bathroom did not indicate this. The plug was extremely discoloured and did not fit in the hole correctly meaning it could not be used for our children. There was also a friendly silver fish in the bath! We attempted to use the restaurant for evening meal but no tables were available. Breakfast was not worth the money paid and the waiter was not as warm and welcoming as the front desk team. Pros: Spacious room. Huge TV. Beautiful view. Front desk team. Areas to improve: Parking. There is no onsite parking. Instead you park in designated spaces in a public car park. This was open to the public and had a strong smell of urine. Bathrooms need modernising. More capacity in the restaurant with a greater focus on welcoming service and better quality food.
