The Patricia Hotel is a fabulous, extremely central place to stay in Vancouver. Although I am a senior, I know that the neighbourhood is really safe so I don't hesitate to go out and about, even in the evening. It is also extremely close to transit, has knowledgeable Front Desk staff who care about you and your stay and who will offer great suggestions re tours, local attractions, and restaurants, a variety of clean, comfortable rooms, really friendly daily housekeeping staff, and 24 hour security in the hotel and adjoining parking lot. They also have the best hotel rates in town, even during the tourist season. The onsite pub/restaurant features local beers, including their own incredibly delicious Classic Lager. The food caters to everyone and I have especially enjoyed their many salads, burgers/wraps, poutine, etc. One of my favourites is their Salmon Burger and it comes with a great side salad or fries. The free and low cost music sessions include Monday night and Saturday afternoon jazz and Wednesday night Blues, and it is incredible - the musicians are often world class. If you are a Heavy Metal fan this is also the place to come. Be sure to check the Pat's Pub website for event listings and their menu. 1 Share

Another update on this hotel. Once when I was staying there, I came down to the library section and noticed an ambulance and a doctors car parked outside. Later heard that a young guy had taken his own life in one of the rooms, 3rd floor I think. The cleaning staff new me quite well and one of them… more

Another update on this hotel. Once when I was staying there, I came down to the library section and noticed an ambulance and a doctors car parked outside. Later heard that a young guy had taken his own life in one of the rooms, 3rd floor I think. The cleaning staff new me quite well and one of them told me she was the one who found him as she entered his room for housekeeping. Sad. Aside of that, I first heard the Lab Rats playing live here too. Great live music, great food. What else do you need! As I mentioned, this place closed down as a hotel last year, and is now a place where homeless can live, funded by the government.

“A bargain for the money.....Rough area of town however......Front desk clerk needs attitude adjustment”

I was checking this hotel out because the price seemed so reasonable. I was checking this hotel out because the price seemed so reasonable. I was aware that it was in the downtown Eastside.....the roughest part of Vancouver...It has more than its share of street people(who basically are harmless), but this hotel keeps its frontage clean, and the hotel lobby is clean and tidy. I asked to check out a room, which for the money was decent enough. The hallways were a little musty smelling, and could use a good airing....but the room itself did not smell of must. Why I did not stay at this hotel however, was the attitude of the twenty something desk clerk. Yeah perhaps it aint the fanciest hotel, and maybe you feel your job sucks...but that was the worst reception I have ever received from a hotel clerk....ever. I was not opposed to providing ID, but when you basically threw it back at me when I said I wanted to check out other hotels, basically sealed the deal. Unsmiling and unhappy......Sir you are in the wrong line of work. I stayed at the Days Inn....where for thirty bucks more, I at least got a desk clerk who looked and sounded like they were happy to have the business. I suggest another line of work.
