“Great location service and rooms”

Great service Good location With only two days on hand to explore this city one never the less gets a sense a that the people in the street are as friendly as those who welcomed us in the hotel. Excellent follow up to room request and great room. Rooms are excellent. Can recommend

I stayed at this hotel as a solo traveler in October 2025. It was a semi-last minute trip to see a band play a reunion show. That said, I believe i got a good price for this luxury hotel. The room was huge. More than enough space for me by myself. The bathroom was crazy with a huge soaking tub, another shower and heated floors. There was also a nice desk next to the TV as well. I will say that the bed/desk/tv side of the room did not get as bright as the bathroom side. This was probably due to the interior lighting but also the exterior lighting. Not a deal breaker at all, i just wished there were more lights on the bedroom side. The hotel itself was very nice. The front desk had huge apples available for free at all times. The gym was excellent. I did not use the pool, but i did walk by it and the hot tub to look at it. The pool area is also a bar/club. They cover up the pool and it becomes the dance floor at night. This was a pretty big bummer for me as i typically want to wind down and rest my legs in the pool or hot tub after being out all day. While i did have downtime during the day where i could have gone, it honestly felt awkward with it being in a club even if the club wasnt clubbing at that time. So i never used it. The hotel also has Ebikes available. I took one for a ride around all of stanley park and it was phenomenal to use. I was gone for less than the time i booked and the guy didnt even charge me the full time, which was very nice. The area around the hotel is mostly safe. Vancouver has a huge drug and homeless problem, with the epicenter being the downtown east side neighborhood on west hastings. Its not limited to that area though and you will see them scattered around the downtown area. But it seems the further away you get from downtown east side the less there are. However Granville st has a visible amount of them nodded out on the floor and one did scream and me and start chasing me for no reason in the area of granville and nelson. But i will say i did not see any homeless or drug addicted sketchballs wandering near the hotel once. Robson st is a few blocks south of the hotel and is a great street for shopping. Great coffee nearby as Pallet and Funk are very close. Highly recommend getting breakfast at Palate Kitchen, which is associated with Pallet coffee. Gastown is nearby too which is quite touristy. Theres lot of food/drink/shopping but of course the drug addicts are there screaming and yelling and random people. Now we get to my biggest issue with this hotel. When i stay at a hotel i do not allow the staff into my room while i am residing there. I do not want to have to keep moving my things for them to come in and clean and make the bed. I clean up after myself and dont need a freshly made bed every day. On my final night staying at Paradox i was in the shower when I hear banging on my door. I rush out of the shower grabbing a towel just in time to see THE F*CKING DOOR TO MY ROOM OPENING. I immediately slam it back shut and lock it because i am now freaked out and don't know what is going on. On the other side was a hotel employee and security who had been trying to enter my room. They said that because i had left the do not clean the room sign on the door for 3 straight days they had to check on me to make sure everything is ok. They said they had tried to call my room phone. But i did not hear it as i was in the shower. Also i looked at the missed calls and it was 6 minutes prior to the interaction and i learned that someone had previously lowered the volume halfway and had changed the ringer to a noise that you would not expect to come from a phone. Now i understand their concern, but i have never heard of such a thing as a hotel needing to check on you like this. Especially when that specific day i had rented an Ebike from them, which necessitated me going to the front desk. AND i had ordered room service from the hotel for dinner(a burger which was excellent btw). This whole ordeal also happened after getting screamed at and chased by the previously mentioned drug addict so i was already on edge. I don't know how legitimate this policy is, but its something they need to make you aware of ahead of time because the intrusion upon my privacy was not appreciated at all. While i was talking to them through the door they did not seem to want to leave, i had to basically tell them to go away before they finally did. After i did go down to the front desk and speak with one of them where i expressed my displeasure with the whole ordeal. Sorry to say that all i got was an apology and nothing to make up for it. Honestly, if i ever go back to Vancouver (which is unlikely given how unsafe i felt with all the mentally unstable drug addicts around) i probably would not stay here again because of this one issue.
