Just returned home and already missing the Sheraton Eau Claire in Calgary. For Scottish tourists, this wonderful establishment is perfectly situated to get the best from the blue sky city. Located at the northern end of the city’s business district, it’s a short 15 minute walk to the CORE centre which then links perfectly to other locations using the city’s affordable public transit. Along the way are many well-known eating establishments as well as other unique places that might be of interest. If you’re not in the mood to go that far, there are two amazing eateries just across the road. Both offer a wide menu of options at very reasonable prices. The Sheraton itself has a restaurant too and room service prices were again convenient and affordable. During our stay, we had Club level access to the top floor amenities- we enjoyed these very much. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very polite and professional and worked tirelessly to ensure all options were refreshed regularly. In the evenings, a range of canapés are available and sodas and coffees/ teas are available 24/7. The hotel pool was a good size and despite always being used, never seemed overcrowded, with children and adults enjoying the waterside. The Jacuzzi was spacious and kept at a warm temperature making it pleasant to sit in and look out, under the dome. The room was spacious for a city hotel and had everything we needed. The fridge and microwave were convenient and the bed was super comfortable. During the festival evenings, music could be heard from the nearby plazas but the comfy bed still ensured a good nights sleep. The bath and showers were all good and the room was cleaned daily. Bottles of water were supplied regularly, were plentiful and were appreciated given the good weather. Staff throughout the hotel were professional and courteous and would smile and greet guests throughout the day. There was a genuine sense that they were pleased to see you. Overall the hotel was clean, well maintained and always smelled lovely. Concierge staff seemed well informed of local attractions and of places of interest within the area and were keen to answer all questions. The hotel is connected to the plus 15 walkway on the second level so despite being in what felt like a safe neighbourhood, it is possible to travel to other buildings and reach the CORE without setting foot outside, should it be a cold or rainy day. All in all, an excellent stay and we hope to return soon!
