We vacationed at the Fairmont this past July with our two children and decided to splurge for a Gold level suite. It was a fabulous experience all around. We received welcome emails from the resort to get prepared for our visit. The room was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. I would highly recommend this resort and it is worth the extra cost for the Gold level accommodations!

“Expectations Exceeded”

We came with high expectations after a few stays at the Fairmont Banff Springs, and the Chateau Lake Louise exceeded them in every way. The views have to be seen to be believed. Our room was so new that it appeared to have been renovated yesterday. Even the shower had a lake view! We enjoyed afternoon tea in the Fairview and a quieter breakfast there than in Louiza. Staff at the Guide’s Pantry were very helpful in packing a picnic lunch early in the day to take with us on the Icefields Parkway. Took a dip in the lake and then warmed up in the delightful steam room and hot tub. Gym was small but serviceable. Hope to return soon!

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise exceeded every expectation. This is genuinely one of our best trips yet. The sunrise canoe experience is an absolute must. Only seven hotel guests get to be on the lake at sunrise, and it's one of the most uplifting and serene experiences you can have. The Basin Spa alone is worth the trip. It's one of the most spectacular spa settings I've ever experienced, with mountain views that make the whole atmosphere feel unforgettable. The Aufguss ritual was the highlight of our stay: expertly led, truly rejuvenating, and something everyone should experience at least once. The spa staff, Rosi, Erik, Abby, Raol, and Barbara, were warm and welcoming, took the time to walk us through the facility, made sure we were comfortable, and kept everything exceptionally clean. We felt completely taken care of. Louisa was our favorite restaurant on property. Steven, Cy, and Rachel handled the dinner and breakfast rush with ease, and we never once felt rushed or forgotten. And the room, the view alone took our breath away. The whole property is elegant and beautifully maintained, but it's the little touches that stood out: Honor made check-in a breeze, Avery at the concierge helped us plan our activities, and Tess kept our room spotless every day. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was outstanding. We'll absolutely be back.

The Basin Glacial Waters spa is beautiful. The architecture is minimal and timeless, and it compliments the natural beauty of Lake Louise and the mountains that surround it. That said, when I see posts about the Basin Glacial Waters on social media, they have been made by influencers who only focus on the positives, and I'd like to share a more balanced perspective as an ordinary person and someone who goes to spas on a regular basis. While the facilities are clean and beautiful, and the setting is stunning, I would not go back or recommend it to others. Here's why: 1. It's the most expensive spa I've ever visited. - To access the spa facilities, guests are required to book a night at the hotel. As the hotel is in a relatively remote location, guests typically eat at the hotel as well. On top of that, guests are required to pay $289 to use the spa facilities for three hours. In total, I spent well over $1,000 for the opportunity to access the spa for three hours. - I have visited incredible spas all over the world, including the Four Seasons in London, the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, and the Silo Hotel in Cape Town. With respect to spa fees alone divided by access time, the Basin Glacial Waters is by far the most expensive spa I have ever visited. - It might also be helpful for me to note that this is the only hotel I've ever stayed at that requires guests to pay to use the spa facilities. 2. There is a no pictures and videos policy. - Despite the reels that influencers post online, guests are not allowed to take pictures or videos. - I genuinely think if guests are paying incredibly high prices to access the spa, they should be able to take pictures or videos while no one else is around and within reason. - At one point, I was the only person in the lounge, and I took my phone out and read the news on it. I was reprimanded by a staff member, and she stated that I needed to go to the change room and put my phone in my locker. I felt like I was a student in primary or secondary school who was being reprimanded by one of their teachers. 3. It was crowded. - I went to the spa on a Tuesday afternoon in the winter, expecting it to be relatively quiet between the day of the week I chose and the exclusivity of the spa. However, it was one of the more crowded spas I had ever been to. 4. There is a three-hour time limit. - The Basin Glacial Waters is tied with the spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs in regards to the shortest time limit I have experienced at a spa. In my opinion, three hours often isn't enough time to unwind and feel refreshed. I would love to see the time limit extended to at least four hours. 5. I didn't see a place to fully recline. - This might seem like a small thing, and it might not matter to some folks, but when I go to spas, I like to use loungers that fully recline to help me relax. However, while the furniture was really nice, it only allowed for partial recline.
