We stayed here twice during our trip to Canada—once on arrival and again before our early morning flight home—and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The biggest advantage is the location. The hotel is directly across from the Winnipeg airport terminal. One thing to know, though: despite being an airport hotel, you do have to step outside to get there. Don't let that discourage you—it's a very short walk (actually shorter than the walk to the Courtyard by Marriott). We happened to leave in the rain, but even then it only took a couple of minutes. It's simply something travelers should know in advance. The rooms were modern, quiet, and very comfortable, with plush bathrobes, comfortable beds, and excellent blackout curtains that made for a great night's sleep. The hotel itself doesn't offer breakfast, but its sister property, the Lakeview Signature Hotel, is just a short indoor walk away. We had breakfast there before our flight, and it was outstanding. My traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns was excellent, and I have to give special mention to the hash browns—they were easily among the best I've ever had: perfectly hot, nicely seasoned, and wonderfully crispy. The night before our flight, we decided to have dinner at the on-site Blue Marble Restaurant rather than deal with finding transportation elsewhere, and we're so glad we did. It far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I both ordered the chicken souvlaki bowls, and they were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The wine list was also much better than we expected for an airport hotel restaurant. Throughout both stays, the front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient. If you're flying into or out of Winnipeg and want a comfortable, convenient place to stay, I highly recommend this hotel.

“Convenient and Practical”

For our two year olds first trip by plane, we wanted a convenient hotel to bring him to and from his flights - hence, The Grand! The room was immaculately cleaned and thoughtfully designed. We were pleased to see a large mini fridge and shelving for drinks and snacks. The TV has built in Chromecast which was really easy to operate and connect our streaming services to. The bed was quite comfortable and we all slept well. An interesting feature was blinds in a track, eliminating any light from coming into the room from the airport. Despite our room being right across the hallway from the elevator, we didn’t hear it or any noise from adjacent rooms. The best part of all - the room overlooked the tarmac! Our toddler had a great time watching planes land and take off. The only “cons” that I will mention, that were not at all cons to us: (1) the room is right above the tarmac and the planes are very loud as they taxi by throughout the night. (2) The parking situation was confusing and poorly signed, and you had to walk 5-10 minutes through another hotel, long hallway, and back rooms to get to it.

“Another great stay”

Overnighting at the Grand Hotel before a morning flight removes any stress from arriving at the airport on time the next day. Enjoying a meal in the Blue Marble makes us feel like we are already on vacation.
