“Cozy and comfy! ”

Room very clean had 2 Queen size beds very comfortable and cozy. Big stand up shower. Continental buffet breakfast sausage bacon toast scrambled eggs fruit yogurt etc. delicious 😋 staff very welcoming and friendly! Would definitely book here again.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a touring holiday around Newfoundland. The hotel is quite large, and we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a family room, which gave us plenty of space despite there being just the two of us. On our drive from Trinity to Gander, we stopped in Elliston to visit the puffin lookout and the Father and Son memorial before continuing on to Bonavista Lighthouse and Mifflin's Tea Room, which had been recommended by some lovely ladies we met in Trinity. We were fortunate to have beautiful sunshine, making the scenery at the puffin lookout even more spectacular. It was also great fun watching the puffins in their natural habitat, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. The hotel itself is a little dated and could certainly benefit from some refurbishment, but our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were a few signs that maintenance is needed - for example, the top drawer of the chest of drawers wouldn't close and remained permanently open. It wasn't a major issue for us as we were largely living out of our suitcases, but it did stand out. One evening we had some very noisy neighbours who had apparently locked themselves out while their grown-up child was asleep in the room. There was a fair amount of shouting as they tried to wake them, which wasn't ideal. One of the biggest advantages of staying here was the guest laundry. As we were on an almost three-week road trip, being able to wash and dry our clothes was a real bonus. Laundry detergent capsules were available to buy at reception, making everything very convenient. Another plus was the location. Gander Mall is directly across the road, with a supermarket that's handy for stocking up on snacks and supplies. Our room also had a fridge, which was useful. Breakfast was probably the weakest part of our stay. We arrived around 9:30am one morning, and the selection was quite limited, particularly for anyone with food allergies or intolerances. I was able to have gluten-free toast, and the staff brought out some fresh scrambled eggs, which I appreciated, along with some bacon. The fruit selection was limited to a very small bowl of fruit cocktail. While in Gander, we took a day trip to Twillingate, stopping first at Boyd's Cove Beothuk Interpretation Centre, which was interesting and very peaceful. We'd also booked tickets several months in advance for the ‘Come From Away’ musical, and seeing it in Gander made the experience even more special. On leaving Gander to head to Corner Brook we visited Gander Airport's excellent first-floor exhibition about the historic international lounge and the town’s role in 9/11, as well as the North Atlantic Aviation Museum — both are well worth including in your itinerary if you have the time. Overall, although the hotel could do with updating, it provided a comfortable base with practical facilities that suited our road trip very well.

“Good enough for a one night stay”

Needed a place to stay on way back from Deer Lake to St John's while stopping at interesting places along the way. Hotel is older and definitely showing its age. Had a room on first floor at the back and the walk there was a little sad. Rooms were clean but dark carpet and drapes brings the moo… more

Needed a place to stay on way back from Deer Lake to St John's while stopping at interesting places along the way. Hotel is older and definitely showing its age. Had a room on first floor at the back and the walk there was a little sad. Rooms were clean but dark carpet and drapes brings the mood down. The noise transfer between floors was excessive especially when someone is walking around and moving their luggage constantly in the early morning. Free breakfast buffet was OK and they did eventually refill the contents.
