This hotel gets a three from me. I was going to give 2 stars, but the checkout clerk finally listened to my concerns & offered to comp the parking (which is freaking ridiculous for a hotel with a private parking lot), so I'm being generous. I stayed in Kingston for my birthday at the Days Inn & decided to try another for my little Halloween getaway this October. Why didn't I stick with the hotel that was so good? I had a horrible breakfast experience on the drive here, so I realize that may have coloured my mood a bit, but I was happy to reach Kingston. I paid extra to stay at a hotel with an indoor pool. Imagine my disappointment when I arrive & find out that the pool is in a separate building, so you need to walk across the parking lot in your bathing suit & wet after to go to the pool in the late October cold. Nope, no thanks. & don't say, Oh well, you could change. & try to put clothes on a wet body & freeze to walk across. No. I was VERY surprised to find out that this hotel charged an extra fee to park, almost $10/day. I hadn't noticed that in the fine print of my booking, but have you ever paid extra for parking in a hotel that has it's own lot? The only hotels where I have were in downtown city centres. This hotel has its own private lot like a regular hotel. A little extra way to rip people off. That alone will keep me from staying again. They tried to charge me $50 PER NIGHT fee. I've only ever had US hotels do that. Usually it's a flat $50 or $100. That would mean a $200 hold on my card. I did tell him at check in that was crazy & he reduced it to $150, still stupid. Go back out to the car & can't find the elevator. Walked all the way back to the lobby & asked if the elevator there was the only one. Was told that only goes DOWN. To where, I didn't know. I told them if I'd known that I wouldn't have booked. Go look on the Agoda website right now on the Overview page. It says under Services & Conveniences: Elevator. I have RA. I do not book hotels without them. She asked if I needed help & I said yes, explained I have RA & horrible knees. No one ever came. Luckily, there happened to be a room attendant. She was so nice & helped with one trip. But I lugged most things up the stairs solo. I was furious at this point. Then, anger increased when I saw the condition of the room. Dirty carpet pulling up from the floor. Peeling paint. I took pictures. Everything needed an upgrade except the TV, but I will say that room was CLEAN. Not a hair. The toilet seat was broken on side, which became annoying. & the TP holder. One of those that slips off the edge every time you pull the roll. The guests across the hall were from hell. Every night between 1 & 2 AM they slammed the EFF out of their door & were loud in the hallway. Woke me up every night. I was going to buck it up & swim the last night, something I never get to do at home. But as I drove in, I could see they had some kind of medical emergency in the pool area? There were some staff & someone who looked like an EMT? Not sure what was going on, but just stayed away. The one thing I loved was the bed. The bed was softer & much more comfy that the Days Inn, but that wouldn't make me stay again. Also, there was a glass sliding door. That made me glad I was on an upper floor, but as a woman staying solo, makes you nervous. One chair on the balcony, so hope no couples plan on sitting out there together. At checkout, same story. Ran into a room attendant & she helped me take a couple of things down. I told her I had more & was going to tip her the $20 in my purse, but she conveniently disappeared. I told the checkout clerk all my disappointments. She said if I'd said something, they would have put me on the first floor. I told her how I'd come all the way back to the lobby to ask about the one elevator & what they said. That is when she offered to comp my parking. I told her I'd put that in the review, still wouldn't get me to stay there again. It's okay at best, but when I spend my hard earned $ to travel, I want better than okay.

The website advertises breakfast, but when we got there the staff informed us that we had to purchase one at the Denny's at the front of the property. The location was very convenient for travelling. The website advertises breakfast, but when we got there the staff informed us that we had to purchase one at the Denny's at the front of the property. The location was very convenient for travelling. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. It would have been nice to have two chairs on the balcony so that couples could enjoy it together. The facility is older, and is showing the wear and tear.
