“One of My Best Stays”

So last weekend I stayed at the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa. It was my girl’s daughter’s birthday. We decided to make it a mini vacation for us as well. Seeing we are in NYS anyway it isn’t that far. I have to say this was one of best stays I have had anywhere. We used the valet parking as parking is at a premium since the late 1990’s when everything started changing in the Canadian side of the falls. It’s expensive but worth it for the convenience. It’s March and still not very warm but also a great time to stay at this hotel. We upgraded to room 1928 upon arrival. I didn’t recognize the lobby. I was here Dec 17th in 2004, so it was a while ago. The counter was changed; the bar area is different and there is a Starbucks in the lobby. There are two banks of elevators, one for odd rooms and another for even. The spa, pool and gym are all downstairs on the LL floor. We got into our room with no problem. If anything, I will remember the view of the falls this time around. I have been up here a lot of times, had relatives from Italy on this side of the falls, but this view was incredible. You could watch it all day. At night it was unreal as both sets of falls are lit up. You could literally watch the falls all day. The room was very clean. There were extra towels which was a great touch. Most of the other amenities were provided like a fridge . The first night there was some noise which I think was the elevator shaft near our room, but I wasn’t sure. That was my only small complaint. I read some reviews on here and some of the information is incorrect or just not true. This is individually owned and on the second set of owners. It has the Marriot branding but is different than other properties. Also, people keep saying the décor is dated. Hotels incur huge expenses in the millions to upgrade facilities. Décor has nothing to do with if it is a good hotel or not unless it’s in the way of your stay. People are concerned about the wrong things sometimes. The customer service was excellent. Even the hotel maid service was pleasant and talked to you. This facility is dealing with hundreds of people a day and not everything will be perfect but there are a lot of people that care here. In fact, I noticed a lot of rude guests more than everything. Niagara Falls is a cash grab in a lot of ways; it always was because of tourism. With that and the volume of people here it gets busy in the hotel. We didn’t eat at Morton’s onsite but made a good connection with Ron who was playing guitar in the bar last Friday night. We are both musicians, so it was fun to talk with him. The Spa is a kind of a separate entity, so we didn’t use it due to cost. The pool is a good size as well as the gym. Niagara Falls is a good resource that people overlook. This facility can help to enjoy it more.
