My wife and I recently enjoyed a delightful two-day getaway at the Château Cartier Hotel & Resort. We booked a king suite on the top floor, boasting lovely views of both the Koena thermal baths and the golf course, which was a real treat. Our suite itself offered excellent comfort: the bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was spotless, and the furniture was in good condition. Navigating the rather ample and bustling parking lot offered its own brand of excitement upon arrival. We eventually found a spot, though a minor yet irritating memento on my Porsche's door later suggested that some fellow guests might have been a tad enthusiastic with their parking maneuvers. This sort of thing, of course, can happen anywhere these days and was certainly no fault of the hotel. Our check-in experience was an absolute charm, thanks to Sarah at the reception. She welcomed us warmly, guided us through everything with remarkable professionalism and efficiency, and truly set a wonderful tone for our stay. We had a truly pleasant surprise with the on-site restaurant, KaTO, which we've reviewed separately as it definitely deserves its own spotlight. However, we can't quite say the same for Ono, where we had breakfast both mornings. While the service there was consistently good, a definite plus, the food quality was, regrettably, just average. Now, for the one truly distinctive detail of our visit, and please allow for a touch of lighthearted humor here: the door handles. It seemed every handle and push plate throughout the complex had developed a unique, almost artistic, patina of... well, let's just say a well-loved history that felt disconcertingly sticky to the touch. This was certainly an interesting contrast to the otherwise pristine presentation of the luxurious lobby, and one couldn't help but imagine the many stories these busy, and regrettably tacky, surfaces could tell. The staff's politeness and friendly attitude were genuinely appreciated throughout our stay, and truly enhanced our overall experience. Despite our minor adventures with the doors and the brief parking lot memento, we wholeheartedly recommend the hotel. We particularly appreciated its proximity to Koena thermal baths, which are literally next door, where we indulged in a truly memorable Swedish massage. The comfort, the stunning views, and the excellent staff made for a memorable stay. We are confident that the management, like other establishments successfully managing similar high-traffic areas, will find an effective solution for this particular concern.
