Customer service at this location was good. We had zero issue's checking in. The rooms were a good size, and comfortable. When I asked about the breakfast, I was told that staff would be able to assist me with Gluten Free options for breakfast. When I spoke to them in the morning, the kitchen staff were polite and very helpful. They assisted me in getting some eggs and even toasted me some Gluten Free Bread (not using the shared toaster) in the kitchen so cross contamination would be minimal. The rooms were clean, and the noise level was minimal. The only negative aspect I found was the location to downtown was perfect when walking to the By-ward Market; however there was a community run medical building for the homeless almost directly across the street. Which meant that there were a lot of homeless individuals in the area openly doing drugs (we saw people injecting themselves). This is not the hotel's problem; it's a systemic issue for all of our country and I realize that it's a complicated issue; however when I was here I was travelling with my teenage daughter the two of us ladies felt very uncomfortable walking back to the hotel a night. The hotel did have security staff very visible; so I believe this was their solution to making customers feel a bit more secure.

Parking underground was easy and practical, although there was a sign stating they were sold out on the day we were leaving. We stayed for one night and have zero complaints. Our room on the ninth floor was quiet, clean, and spacious, with a nice walk-in shower. Elevators worked fine, although a little slow. We did not go for breakfast, use the pool, or purchase anything from the small market. We would return if in the area.

“A Nice Stay”

A nice stay at this property. Check in was fast and friendly. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance from many attractions. The room was clean comfortable and spacious. I would return.

A typical Holiday Inn Express hotel located on the outer end of Downtown Ottawa. The rooms are very comfortable, staff are generally nice, facilities are in good shape, decent sized parking lot, however the nearby streets are very sketchy at night though hotel has a security guard in the lobby area and doors are locked after certain hours at night. Below is the detailed review. Location: The hotel is at a 10 minute walk from main downtown area with all attractions and markets. Unfortunately there are hoards of homeless people out on the streets at night which does not give a safe feeling. If you have to park at a garage nearby you must walk back with certain care. Rooms: The rooms are modern, new, well furnished, and very comfortable. The furniture is new, there are ample or charging outlets across the room. There is decent closet space and iron with board is available. Bathroom: The bathrooms are super nice and have the best fixtures, very nice amenities, and good water pressure. Breakfast: The typical Holiday Inn breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausages, while the bakery section has good variety. Juices, water, yogurt, and tea/coffee. The coffee maker is available for hotel guests all day round. Parking: The paid basement parking garage is very convenient, however it gets filled up very quickly. The other options are at a 2 minute drive and minute walk. The overnight weekend rates at external parking garage are half than what the hotel charges. Staff: A big shout out to all East Asian staff working at the property from front desk to breakfast. All were very kind, polite, & extremely helpful. The other staff members were not very friendly or either helpful. Stark contrast between the level of service from both group of staff members. The common areas are also nice with various types of comfortable seating available. Overall this is the more affordable option near downtown Ottawa.

I was so happy with my stay. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because of the location. Not entirely safe area you just have to be careful and aware. The hotel itself is wonderful. The staff is top-notch lovely service. The breakfast alone makes it worth the stay. Definitely say good morning to the lovely ladies that put the breakfast buffet together every morning. My go to breakfast every morning was to grab a banana, a yogurt, a small plate of scrambled eggs, and three strips of bacon. Sometimes I would make myself a piece of toast or even a pancake from their wonderful pancake machine there. Also fully stocked with orange and apple and cranberry juice. The room was one of the most comfortable clean rooms I’ve ever stayed in. the bed and comforter was so comfortable I did not want to get out of bed every morning. I was there for the Ottawa international film Festival, which involved me needing to come back late at night every night. The hotel is in an area that’s set back in the midst of several homeless shelters. I do not have anything against homeless shelters, but I did not feel entirely safe walking home a lot of the time so I had friends give me lifts or walk me there. The good news is an Uber is always one minute away and it’s really accessible to everything. And uber is so inexpensive in Ottawa! Play your cards right and be aware and you’ll have a happy stay there. It is really great. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay!!
